I think all of us at one time wish that we could be super rock stars or just super famous musicians at one point in our lifes.
I got a feeling if I would of made it big in my teenage years ( THE 60'S )I would of ended up like Jimmy Hendrix or Jim Morrison , put in a pine box at an early age.
I don't think I could of handled the Fame & Fortune back then.
What about you ??? GWB.

Live Fast Die Young and leave a Beautiful Corpse!

That is the teenage Rock-n-Roll Fantasy...

"Billy rapped all night about his suicide, how he'd kick it in the head when he was twenty-five."

"Johnny died one night, died in his bed
Bottle of whiskey, sleepin' tablets by his head
Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summer day
If you listen to the wind, you can still hear him play..."

Naw, I'd be Dead!

If I can't be a real rock star, at least I can pretend. One of my favorite games with the wife is "Rock Star and the Groupie". ;)

In all seriousness
Most are not that different than you are.
If both people in the business then
if ya act that way the whole star/fan isn't there. They become regular people.
You see who they really are.
I ran the bar area of concert hall that held
2000 to 5000 depending which stage was used.
4 to 7 national acts rolling through a week.
for 3 years. I saw 1 hit wonders to members of the rock & roll hall of fame.
The people who were on the first big records
were more likily to be I'm a star thing.
In looking back on it; its like any group you work with, some ya like, some ya hate, some become aquantences, others friends some are drunks some addicts some nuts.
In general without name dropping some of biggest
acts with true staying power in the busness were
some of the most average down to earth people you could ever meet.
Alot of the wild stories you hear are cooked by managers to keep thier name in press.

I could see myself having one big hit, followed by a string of failed follow ups. After squandering all of my money on candy and porno, I would end up playing acoustic cover material to drunks in local saloons for very little money.

Oh, wait! That's my real story (except for the "success" part..... :) )

John, you forgot the ending... a spectacular arrest and trial in which BMI and ASCAP make 'an example' of you for not paying royalties on the material and hit you with 10 years and $50k in fines...

. . . then you "find Jesus", put out a half-dozen sh!t albums, and die of a massive brain hemorrhage while hawking a "Best Of" collection on QVC.

I think I like the "candy and porno" version better, but that's just me.

After the divorce from Pamela Anderson and/or Heather Locklear, I'd disappear, living well off the royalties of our "unauthorized" sex video.

I think I would have put a Steinway in a sandbox in my living room. Only to return 30 years later to sing embarassingly off-key.

Undoubtedly I would have consumed a shitload of drugs and died.

If fame and fortune arrive late I will consume shitloads of food and wine and die.

I've never been very good at restraint. Look what it took to make me stop smoking.

Since Cliff burst my dream bubble, I'll amend it:
Gave up career as lawyer after 1st and only record went platinum, then had to go back when I lost my shirt and everything else to Pam in the divorce because I hired Cliff's divorce lawyer. (Obviously never had a prenup, because Pam had all the money and I didn't want to hire a lawyer to look out for my interests before the marriage.)

So sorry for all of you.

In my rock fantasy I bought a little vineyard next to Tommy Smothers and we spend lazy afternoons trying to remember why we were once famous while playing with our yoyos and comparing wines.

m. jagger/k. richards/m. faithfull)

Here I lie in my hospital bed
Tell me, sister morphine, when are you coming round again?
Oh, I dont think I can wait that long
Oh, you see that Im not that strong

The scream of the ambulance is sounding in my ears
Tell me, sister morphine, how long have I been lying here?
What am I doing in this place?
Why does the doctor have no face?

Oh, I cant crawl across the floor
Ah, cant you see, sister morphine, Im trying to score

Well it just goes to show
Things are not what they seem
Please, sister morphine, turn my nightmares into dreams
Oh, cant you see Im fading fast?
And that this shot will be my last

Sweet cousin cocaine, lay your cool cool hand on my head
Ah, come on, sister morphine, you better make up my bed
cause you know and I know in the morning Ill be dead
Yeah, and you can sit around, yeah and you can watch all the
Clean white sheets stained red.

Hey Mark,,, did you contract Hepititis from Pam?
That could effect the way your story turns out.
How about this one ,,you got divorced from Pam because she was having an affair with Kid Rock & Tommy Lee during your marriage so you remarried Heather and ended up finding out that you caught Hep-C from Pam & gave it to Heather so Heather divorced you for giving her Hep-C and now you became a homeless/pennyless/diasesed has been Rock-N-Roller OHHHHHHHHH someone else take this story over for me and put a nice twist on it so poor Mark makes a wild comeback or something and maybe they find a cure for him in the end...
Hope this turns out good for you Mark because I know this crowd can be brutal on people.GWB
