It seems the entire Adamas string series is being reissued with new packaging but to its original specifications. Those strings haven't been available for quite some time at least in my region.

The fifth (A5) and sixth (E6) string still utilize the core and wrap wire of identical size.

Excellent! Who has them in stock? Just Strings only list Adamas Bass strings (in the old packaging, so probably old stock).

That's good news, hope they still sound as good as before. Though I have tested the new d'Addario N6 (Nickel-Bronze) strings and really like them.

I tested the N6's and really like them too, d'Ovation. They're pre-selling them at Strings and Beyond for $11.99 a set. Shipping this week.

I only heard when I tried to order some old stock from Sam Ash, and accidently hit that "Talk to a real person" button. The nice young man who came on told me that they were going to be making them again, but were waiting to find out who the distributor was going to be... He said that I could go ahead and put my order in now, so I am assuming that Sam Ash will be selling them.

I bought something like a dozen sets, must have been NOS, for Christmas gifts 2014. I had no idea they were out of production.

Ooops. I forgot to ask a very important question about the new re-issue Adamas Strings. DUH! Where can I get them in CANADA? Anyone?

I imagine every major retailer is going to have them in stock very soon again, or at the very least those ones that were previously selling the Adamas strings (red packaging).

11.99 a set? I take it that is list. When you can pick up EJ 16 or17 for $3-4 a set?

There was a time when you could pick up a dozen 1818s for about the same price as a dozen EJ16s on sale. I picked up a dozen each of both the 1717s and 1818s. Still have some of the 1717s which I rarely use these days.

I like the EJ 24 sets for my acoustics. Lately I've been using the EJ 15 sets on the Vipers.

Beal, are you using those EJ24s for DADGAD tuning only, or are you doing standard with 'em too?

I've been using EJ19s on most of my acoustics, and find them especially good on my Ovations.

There was a time when you could buy Adamas strings for something like $45 per dozen. I sure did, and then the available inventory on the market vanished. Those strings on the wall may be a few years old.

What does the "E" mean? Here in Germany I only had 1919 (1717 and 1818 as well), and they were packed in blister....

Hi, Everyone,
When we were selling the former version of Adamas Strings in the red packaging, at the music store I worked in, way back some 30 years ago, the Ovation rep for Eastern Canada told us the, 'E' , simply stood for "Enviromental", because a new type of "anti-corrosive", and "earth-friendly" material was used to package the strings. It was just for North America. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The new Adamas Strings may be carried by Long and McQuade in Canada, in about 3-4 months, again, maybe? I got a " No Comment" type e-mail from D'Addario Canada, when I asked them about the new Adamas Strings. Go figure?
