I just found an MOB is very nice condition. It appears to only have a few paint chips on the headstock and a little finger cheese (which a little lemon oil can fix) and is surprisingly loud. They are USA made right? Its at $300. I am thinking of snagging it.

Its an Elite Tangent, MOB means "my other board". The sound holes are shaped like surf boards. It is aimed at being a beach guitar. Build like an elite T but with a gloss blue finish instead of the flat textured black one.

The only one I know of is made overseas and it's the ugliest guitar I have ever seen in my life. Even if it sounded like an Adamas I just couldn't bring myself to own one. That color and the hideous headstock would give me nightmares. As it is though, the one I played sounded like the cheap, foreign made piece of junk that it is.

Was that what you meant by opinion?

Mainly I meant $300 for the guitar, but any other opinions are fun too! BTW this one sounded good for old strings and very loud. Didn't sound anything like some of the bad celebrities I've tried.

I think it would be a great beach/camping guitar. I don't mind the color and sound holes. The headstock, on the other hand, is definitely a taste I have yet to acquire. I don't have one, but I do remember being pleasantly surprised at the sound of the one I played.

I guess it depends on what you want it for. Pretty much any decent sounding guitar that's in good shape with a case is worth 200-300. Just depends on if it fits your tastes. Pretty much anyone under the age of 25 thinks their awesome looking guitars... and some of us closer to 60 think so too and I'm not afraid to say it. I like it. I had one and I liked it.

Nancy, MOB stood for My Other aBortion.
Mario, for that cheap and a beater, hard to go wrong. You could get OMA to repaint it for you, he has had practice and is getting good at it.

I was in a band once, the lead vocalist used one for a prop. Never actually heard it. It made me wince when he put it on, for various reasons. Hey, everyone is allowed to screw up now and then.

You don't see many of them around.
Clean it up, find the best sounding strings for it, you'll be good-to-go.
So, for $300 you will have a guitar that nobody else has.
And a guitar that probably nobody would steal.

CanterburyStrings - 2016-02-18 5:04 AM "...and it's the ugliest guitar I have ever seen in my life."

No.  That title is still held by the Thunderbolt.

Still, it's an improvement on broccolli.

Was that what you meant by opinion? :

I used to have one. Your opinion of it will depend what you expectations are but you could do worse for $300.

In the end I moved mine from the music room into my bedroom closet and used it to hang my belts from the tuners and my neck ties through the sound holes.

This may sound a bit disjointed and abstract, but I sent one over Niagara Falls.

I was going to say I thought that was the Celery Temp put his jackboot through, but then I remembered that one wound up taking several rides on the trebuchet.

I thought embedding worked here? Oh, well. Here's the video....

So cruel you all are. Just about any guitar can be set up to be reasonably playable, and absent any other guitars in close proximity, can sound just like an Adamas after tipping a few cocktails. There is, of course, no accounting for taste. If the owner isn't embarrassed by the sight and sound of their marginally playable affront to guitar aesthetic, who are we to judge? The music still moves us. Maybe.

A) A scrap MOB was sacrificed at an OFC Tour (sigh)... I retained what was left.
B) On our way back from the OFC Tours (sigh)... Brian and I always stop to stretch our legs at Niagara Falls.
C) We were bored.

A+B+C= something that we could have got in a lot of trouble for.

Sounds vaguely like a DaveKell "back of the Allman Brother's tour bus" sort of story....

Hi, Everyone,
A lady on the worship team in my home town church played an MOB at our Easter Sunday service in 2012. The guitar was very loud when plugged into the church's PA/ mixing board. She died from cancer within the next 3 months. It was the first, and last time I ever saw this model.
