Some context. My wife is a hula dancer and we both belong to a serious Hula Hulau (school), our Kumu (teacher) was born & raised on Oahu and has danced hula since age three.  It was because of this that I learned to play ukulele, so that I could accompany the hula dancers, and it was the ukulele that led me to the guitar, and the guitar to Ovation.

My wife, aside from being a phenomenal hula dancer, has also become quite an accomplished ukulele player in her own right.  I have also seen her interest peaked as I have begun to learn guitar, and even more so after I began playing some of our hula music on my Ovation Elites - which of course have a look that fits well with Hawaiian music. Given the right motivation my guess is she could also become an accomplished guitar player.

Our wedding anniversary is coming in October and I have been looking for the perfect gift.  When I saw this CC44 I knew I had found it. I mean this beauty looks reminiscent of a hula implement and shaker called an uli uli!!

The seller turns out to be a great guy who has given it a polish and new set of strings. We were able to make a best offer deal that I thought was more in line with a Korean made Ovation that had no case.  He also allowed me a couple of weeks to pay - amazing in this day and age.  This is awesome because now I will need to sell my 1121-1 Artist to fund this purchase, as I am selling the Honey Burst 12 string to fund the 1718 I just bought from Mario.  Funny how quickly that 1718 spoiled me! Ah well I have been feeling guilty neglecting the Artist cause I can't put down the 1718, that thing just sings. It's only right someone else gets the 1121... I suppose.  If only I was independently wealthy.... Ah well two in...two out.

I never noticed before (probably because I couldn't look at it very long) but Dave has the most defined farmer tan I've ever seen. How does that happen with a guy who lives in Arizona and has a pool that fills his back yard? That must be the only time he ever took his shirt off. Brad, I can understand. He lives in Michigan and probably doesn't get much sun.

Before this pic, I was off with Budny, going back to the factory for an abandoned Celeb we could boot. I got back, was told I was needed in the men's room (not something you here much), handed my skirt, and told to get ready, we were on in a few minutes.

Well... it was kinda like this. We were ALL supposed to wear the coconuts. Then suddenly, once we got out there, I see only I was adorned with a matching set of half shells.

Still... as often as this comes up... I wouldn't change a thing.

This is the better "class" photo.

7 names for 6 guys. Or do you call your right one Patch and your left one OMA?
I wish I had been there. "YSBT".

Interestingly, those ARE his nicknames for something a little lower. No, his left breast he calls Hillary, and the right, Carly. (it gets real interesting on debate nights)
