Regrettably, time to say goodbye to this one.

In fantastic shape. You know the specs. This one has a regular-width neck, not the wide. Black hardshell case included.

Priced to move at $3750 plus shipping/insurance.

Thanks!

It is definitely worth what someone will pay you for a rare cat's eye. Nice guitar. Good luck selling it.

Sorry David but I've already got one or we'd be talking. I hope somebody here gets this. If a Slothead is the alpha Adamas, this one is the omega.

Only about a 1/4 inch on the peg...but they bite the string well - so they work great

Thanks! I'll leave it to the new owner to reveal themselves, or not. I'm glad I got to spend some time with this caliber of an instrument. I hope someday I can add another Adamas back into my collection.

David,

This thing is awesome. Finally had the chance to spend some quality time with her this weekend and she's both stunning to look at and hear. Tonally awesome and great playability. Even made me sound good(ish).

Our concerns about shipping from USA to UK were, in the end, unfounded. Absolutely no issues. I think that sending the cased guitar inside the original Ovation packaging was a seriously good move on your part. I would go as far to say that any prospective vendors to far-off places would do well to follow this method. The corners of the outer packaging were still all square when I picked it up.

All I need now is one of the carbon cases to go with it. I've seen the Hoffee cases that seem popular, but would prefer an Original Ovation carbon case if someone has one to sell at a reasonable price. Alternatively, could someone let me know who made them?

Thanks again David and thanks to those other members for their comments.

All the best from a very happy Brit.

Mick

Mick, actually I have one of those carbon fibre cases! While others have had success with them, I felt the fit was too tight with the contour-bowl. The deep bowl was a more comfortable fit, but I no longer have any deep bowl guitars so the carbon fibre case sits unused. I'll post a couple of pics and you can see what you think.

Mick, here are the photos. In one, I highlighted in red the ridge on the contour bowl that seems to keep the guitar from settling nicely into the case. The case can be forced closed and locked with the guitar in it, but I felt like that was putting undue pressure on the top. The fit of the OFC2 into this case was very similar to the guitar I used for these photos (hand-laid fiberglass contour bowl with suspended ring.) And as I said above, a deep bowl fits in here just fine. (1537 and FD14 both fit!)

Hi David,

That's a real shame. I'm absolutely with you regarding undue pressure on the guitar top. The object of the case is to protect the guitar. Squeezing what looks like half and inch to get the thing shut is not good. Forgive my ignorance; was the case actually designed for a deep bowl?

By the way, your honesty and integrity restore my faith in humankind.

Any other suggestions?

Yes these cases were intended for the OFC 1 guitars which have deep bowls. I know others are using this case with OFC 2's so maybe it just comes down to manufacturing differences. I thought about trying to somehow re-form the case to fit the contour bowl but I didn't want to ruin such a valuable and rare piece. Check with alpep to see what the options are but I suspect having a one-off created today would be cost prohibitive.

And I found a new home for the CF case as well. Thanks, all!
