My question was: What will happen to Ovation after Jan. 1st when Fender takes over? The answer: Fender plans to leave them alone! They view Kaman as a very successful operation; and feel if it "ain't broke, why fix it"? They have no plans to do anything like what they did with Guild... This is as close to being direct from Scottsdale as it comes...from someone who knows! I hope it is a Holiday present to all of us who have been concerned and who love the roundback and the mothership and all of the great folks who work there! Very Good News Indeed!

Originally, I wasn't going to go next month to NAMM. Now, I definitely will be up there. A little on-site intel. I am sure that large retailers have been pressing Fender and the current management of Ovation/Adamas/Hamer as to what is going to happen in 2008 as to product...models, production, price list, etc. Down to even the headstock and label. As I am sure you know, a lack of confidence by buyers in January could be devastating as a lot of orders are written on the floor. Whatever happens, there will be change (short term or long term). It doesn't have to be bad. As consumers, we have previous year models or new models to buy of this company or others. My New Years wish is that the change will be good for the staff at the factory as well as the support staff in the field or distribution points around the country (and world).

Fender's purchase of KMC could very well end up being a very good thing for KMC. Not all purchases like this are bad. Mercedes sold Chrysler to a company notrious for dismantling and selling off companies. Now they've brought in the guy who headed Toyota in the US to run Chrysler. Looks to me like a good thing for 'ol number 3.

I have enough quality instruments to keep me busy for 300 or more years...sure don't need to worry about fret wear unless, like in the other post, I won the lottery. Again, more support for the guys and gals at the factory...a New Years wish that the near future will be good for the company and their individual needs. You will have to admit that it will be interesting to see how Fender will be handling it at NAMM (as I understand, it will be Fender and not Kaman as of 1/01/08) Gee, anyone have a spare large truck? Could be a big garage sale in the factory parking lot. Either that or a lot of eBay sales from sellers in Conneticut. Mike W. is probably trying to figure out how to get a couple of NOS necks with Ovation on the headstock.

More likely than not, Fender will apply the Tacoma model, pare down a few Ovation offerings, have them make and or design some other things in the factory, whether for Ovation or for one of their other brands, and use the supply channels to sell even more product. Those channels stretch from china and korea (aren't their factories there) and Japan (there's some sort of relationship with Takamine) back to the states and then around the world. Damn, Fender bought this company cheap, I wish there was a way to profit from it.
