I just noticed there's a few NW folks here. We to do some sort of get together.

I feel the need to drink wine and play OPOs (Other peoples' Ovations)

There was one gathering at gh1's place in Portland. A year ago last....August...wasn't it?

Seems to take a lot of groundwork to get us together. I keep stumping for the Vancouver Island Music Fest as a gathering place...'cos it's so darned much fun...but there's only one taker so far.
(the website for the fest has been down for a several weeks or I'd post a link. googling Vancouver Island Music Fest will get you there and related sites.)

Part of it may be that this seems to be where people come to get away from people.....

Be careful. These guys are fussy about their wine. They always sniff the twist off cap first. :D

I live in the most remote city of more than 100,000 people in the USA, I heard the other day. It's a big project for me to get anywhere or for anyone to come here. I get to Portland on a regular basis and made the NW gathering in August of 06, and met some of the Portland folks on other trips as well. Followup on fillhixx's idea or try to put something together in the Seattle area on a weekend and see if any of the rest of us show up.
We talked about the last one for over a year before it happened, but we had 2 of us from Idaho, the wild Canadian referred to above, Woody and Miles from Seattle and stonebobbo and his son from California, as well as many people a little closer to the Portland area. The only negative from my standpoint was that I didn't get to spend enough time trying out all those guitars and drinking beer with everyone. That was probably a positive for those who owned the beer and guitars.

Welcome - if I'm not too late!

Any excuse to play OPO's!

Let me make this 98% official then.

I would like to host a Northwest OFC gathering at my house in Port Orchard, WA, on July 4/5th this year.
If you Google 98366 you can check out the area for other events, parks, hotels and such. I will host a barbeque style gathering and can accomodate one private bedroom with bath and room for a dozen sleeping bags on the floor!

Contact me to assist with your itinerary and lodging - there are a lot of Family friendly things to do in a short radius and if you lodge or camp nearby we can have an extended OFC event and explore the NW.

There's always Bumbershoot, but I'm usually at the Gorge that weekend for DMB.

There we go, let's all camp at the Gorge! Someone bring a generator for the electrics!

Now cmon, Mark. I came all the way to your house, played all your guitars and didn't drink any of your beer.
All you had to do was pick me up at the airport and drop me at the bus station.

I would love to visit the PNW.
Be warned, if you invite me I might turn up.

Mark,
Its OK, just ship your guitars...

Stand by for a possible change of location and venue - but there WILL BE A PNW OFC Fourth of July gathering and it should be outstanding!

I'm not sure whether to take that as a challenge or a threat.

Damon, make sure you stick a pin in the OFC World Map . We need more weight in the upper left corner to balance out the right side.

Mark, I notice there aren't any in Ideeho.

Looks like Frappr might have lost some through their many 'upgrades'. Slipkid and BrianT seem to be missing, and I just noticed the only one in Colorado is someone named 'Sally'. :p

I just chatted with MWoody and it looks like we'll do this years event up here in Mount Vernon, WA.

I was actually planning it already, I just was awaiting until after NAMM to make the announcement.

So far is looks like the 4th weekend is good for many reasons. As I firm up plans I will post more, probably in a new thread, but... for those that do not know..

There is a TON of stuff to do in this area besides play guitars. The 4th celebration here is like none I have seen anywhere else either.

I'm right off I-5, and close enough that folks up and down the coast could take the train here for an adventure.

Plenty of parking, plenty of lodging, plenty of space, and logistically more music gear than we will ever need and plenty of things for the guitar widows to do too.

more to come...

Great news! I'm in!

Speaking of NAMM.... anyone got an extra pass? I was hoping to go this year, but my "in" fell through.

There's another event I want to go to if I can make it. I met most of these folks while researching who was the best person to fix my Mosrite.

I'll start a new post for it

Hmmm... plenty of gits at Miles house, so no need to bring one...
Sounds like a good excuse for a bike trip!

Cool Miles. That's much more handier for me too!
Are you hitching distance from the the ferry, or cycling!?! (no, no, that would never work. can't carry more guitars BACK on a bike....)

No worries, Phil. If he's willing to sell it, he's willing to ship it!
