I haven't seen any posts from TJ in a long time. I know he was quite the enthusiastic collector/trader. Maybe he fell off the tip of Florida.

There were a few bans that happened way back when some tensions were high over something or other. All silliness if you ask me.

It's been a while but Jim used to call and say hi every once in a while. I have some contact info somewhere I'm sure.

Do we have a "donate to the OFC Fund and start over" policy?
Something to consider...

I need to make a few trades anyway.

hundreds of satisfied customers world wide

I've been buying and selling since I was in high school.

it's in my blood

and that has NOTHING to do with how I run this message board.

I have a low tolerance for people that want to play games and be cute.

Fold.
I like to have fun, but you have to get a good feel for your audience.

Well I just logged back in after not posting for a while. Good to see some old friends still around and one or two new folks. I see Trader jim is still a topic of discord around here. I talk to him from time to time. He's keeping the buy and sell going over at the AGF like he used to back in the good old days around here.

I know what you mean Mike.
It's kinda like sittin' on the front porch on a sunny afternoon watching a couple guys bet each other they can be the first get across a mine field. And... they're both wearing snowshoes.

People come, people go
Some grow young, some grow cold
I woke up in between
A memory and a dream
So let me get to the point
Let's roll another joint
Let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I gotta go
You don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels to be Al.

I remember Jim and dealt with him a few times and thought he was an ok guy.

I also remember how he turned the OFC into his own personal trading post.
I remember how he started hijacking newbies and selling them on his items whether it was what they wanted/needed or not. I remember that he was warned numerous times before being banned.
I also remember that he came back many times under different alias's while continuing to hijack newbies in the welcome center.

I can't say that Jim ever gave anyone a bad deal...actually might have been fantastic but bottom line is that he repeatedly disregarded the rules of the OFC and was given numerous warnings before being banned.

It was during a time of turmoil when lots of the "old guard" packed up and left.....but bottom line, it is a privilege and not a "right" to belong to the OFC and there are rules in place that need to be followed. TJ was a casualty of not following the rules.

Others may wish to dispute my memory and timeline but that is the way I remember it for those who have been asking.

I have similar memories, except for the "hijack newbies" part. Not saying it didn't happen. I just didn't know or don't remember. Our daughter was in a building that collapsed in the Haiti earthquake about that time, so I had other things on my mind.

FWIW, I got along fine with Jim. He even bought an instrument or two from me. I hear from him on the AGF now and then, and I don't mind a bit. As far as his trading goes, I might be worse than he is, so who am I to judge?

I have little to say about the turmoil a few years back other than that it was a few years back.....time to move on.
