Let me make a couple of observations. First, it's a mid depth bowl. It's extemely balanced in it's sound. Second, it's crystal clear in it's sound. It just rings and rings. In this guitar, that's a very good thing. Third, it's extremely light weight. Just a joy to hold. I think the epaulets were of the glue on variety. Don't know that with a carbon fiber top you could do inlaid. The guitar looks much better in person than it does in the photo. I don't know if it will sell, but it is a killer instrument. First Ovation/Adamas I've seen in quite a while that I really liked.

I'm not going to run out and buy one right now beacuse I can't afford it, but if I had the money I would consider it, and if it had the balance and clarity he described, I would own one.

But a member here took it one step further and had a really great guitar built. It was the #47 but built with a mid depth bowl. I played that back in 2006 and was blown away by it. Essentially, the same guitar. Here's a link to Jerome's site with info on it. The only thing Jerome doesn't say is that it's a mid depth bowl. http://ovationtribute.com/Adamas_Models/Adamas_Custom_Order/Adamas_... As to cost, I think it's between $5-6k.

They DO know how to build a great Adamas guitar, no doubt about that. But are the dozen or so that they sell going to save the company? Hmmm I would love to have been a fly on the wall when marketing pitched their 2014 campaign to the brass. OK Witko, what's marketing got up their sleeve this year and how much will it help the bottom line? Well sir, we're going to take this model that sold a few hundred copies back in 2006 to a small circle of friends and we're going to reengineer it into a modern version priced appropriately for it's class. Target market is aging open mic-ers and we expect to sell about 12 of them. CLICK.

People will go on-line, drool and then buy something cheaper, but it increases the sales of other Ovations. Car manufacturers don't sell many of their top models, but they draw people into showrooms.

According the pics, this guitar seems to keep the spirit of the previous models. We had the AI, AII, AIII, the "Q", CVT & SMT, Ute, the reissues series etc... and I admit that I love the look of this one.
But to be honnest, I hate the picture of the Headstock posted by Al !! Are you sure this one came from an Ovation?? Why putting this big white "O" on a non Ovation headstock?? I wish them to sell a lot of them but it's definitively not for me, I'm probably too old now to accept so many changes in less time.

That's not an Adamas. That's the experimental prototype that the new guy at Ovation had built. Wood top, soundhole matching the new logo O, bridge pins, etc.

But this is the guitar in question - no bridge pins, and the carbon fibre inlay on the head is a nod to it's Adamas status. I like it a lot more when I see the whole thing.
