Location: Huntington Beach, California | I have been partial to D'Addario strings my whole life. Although I'll use Elixirs on my Taylor 12 string because they seem to last longer and its a pain to change. Recently I came across Adamas strings. Does anyone have experience with them? I would be interested in your favorite string preferences. |

So for me its...
1. Martin SP 4100's Phos/Bronze 12-54
2. D'addario EJ16's Phos/Bronze 12-53
3. Dean Markley Alchemy GoldPhos LT 11-52 or CL 12-54
Im not a huge 80/20 fan. Too "airy" sounding for me in strumming, if that makes any sense. I like a little thicker sound. Phosphor Bronze is the only way to go.
The DM's have a special coating on them that can feel "sticky" on the plain strings. Its not really sticky, but the coating does seem to slow me down some. |

| I have used the Adamas PB's on several occasions. I think they sound pretty good, however, I don't think D'addario makes them. The string package that I have says Kaman Musical String Division. I have D'addario's on a couple of my Ovations right now, and I like the Martin SP's real well, also. I usually use medium gauge PB's, and I prefer the uncoated version. |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | So then , Who makes ADAMAS / OVATION strings..?..and will Fender make them in the Future..?...on a side note , I thought that D`addario makes the Martin strings ( to Martin spec.) , but Fender makes their own ..?..or is that Vinci who makes them..?..

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I personally think it is sorta' like oil changes. The more frquently you change them, the better the performance. I have been using the Adamas strings now for the past two years. I purchase them in bulk on line. I've tried the Elixers and found their longivity didn't noticeably exceed the Adamas strings. |

Vic Fender strings and Martin strings are both made in Mexico.
Adamas Strings are made in USA |

Are ADAMAS strings made like the Ovation ones..?.. ( something with the Core as thick as the Wrap )..are they less pliable , therefore harder to play on..?..

I used to use the Ovation Hex Core strings, and really liked them, but can't seem to find them, anymore. I think the Adamas are pretty much the same, though. Very good strings, IMO. |

I think the difference is composite gauging in Adamas compared to traditional string design in Ovation strings. |

Location: Los Angeles | I like D'Angelico. I've played most of the above and keep coming back to D'Angelico. They are increasingly hard to find in L.A. which is why I've tried the others. They've got a sound I can't explain. Clear sounding "bells" is as close as I can describe. I play PB light. Ya gotta try these at least once.
I was looking for strings online and came across some information that was interesting. Be careful of cheap imported strings especially those made in China. It seems strings are finding their way into the USA that use a Chromium bath in the manufacturing process. The residue gets on your fingers then your food, family etc. Nasty stuff. |
