It is indeed purdy. The seller lives practically next door to Trader Jim (well, within an hour, anyway).

Not that far from where D'Zilla picked up mine for me. I have to admit that if I'm just reaching for something to play, I tend to grab my 87 more than the 1581. It's just got such a great warm tone.

It will be interesting to see what it sells for.

Mine's coming back from the factory next Tuesday and I'm looking forward to it. My OFC slothead is the finest sounding guitar I own, but John said, there's just something about the warmth of an Elite (my 1537 included)....

Depends on the market at the time. Anywhere between $800-$1400. Get it for a grand or less and you're getting one helluva deal....

I'm trying. I'm in email communication with the seller, trying to convince him to end the auction early & let me buy it outright.

Is that ethical, Serge?

It's done all the time. A seller can choose to end an auction at any time for any reason. In all my auctions I specifically state "Item is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if sold locally."

Some sellers do, however, use that right to end an auction early if they feel they're not getting what they expected. That, to me, is unethical. A seller should do his research first and set a reserve or opening bid price that meets current market value and/or his expectations.

No offense taken; some folks aren't familiar with eBay, and I'm still learnin' how to be a trader/pirate ;) :D

I have to confess that I got someone to end an auction on a Custom Elite that a co-worker bought.

That's how I got my 1581 for an embarrassingly low price.

If that 87C is in as good of condition as it looks, somebody's gonna get a great deal. Quite honestly, it's worth twice the current bid. Hope somebody here gets it.....
