Who would've thought, 2 and a half years ago, that I'd be posting my 1000th post on a forum full of knowledgeable, warm hearted and comical misfits such as this one.

It's been an informative and DAMN funny journey. 6000+ members and still growing - and I've even finally met one of you, but had to travel 12000 miles to do it. And he's a Pom. I'll meet member #2 in a few weeks and maybe another in a couple of months - if he starts posting again.

Although I've never met any of you ('cept Schroeda) I feel I know many of you through the consistency of your posts. I hope to meet some of you one day, who knows what tomorrow brings? (Good line for a song, eh?)

I've learned a lot from you lot and hopefully I've given some back over the years.

I truly believe that it has been my active participation with this group that encouraged JB at the mothership to make some concessions in regards to dealing directly with me to fix my 05ES Collectors - I've just got to get it to Connecticut. The Ovation Customer Service legend continues.

And for those who remember my '05 plight (Mark?), it now no longer lives in the garage and SWMBO is finally aware of its existence, but I had to spin a bit of a yarn. (I've not been entirely truthful)

2 and a half years and 1000 posts and I still feel like a newbie.

Anyway, thanks for having me.

Murray

PS... Oh, and Randy, they're coming. (munch munch) :D

i'm prone to addiction. if tim tams are that good and not available locally, perhaps you guys should not send them. on the other hand, i'm also a glutton for punishment. i can handle it. a double order sounds reasonable. just include a return address.

and congratulations, muzza!

Yes, Muz, I recall your problem and sympathized. I must admit that mine was greatly exaggerated, however. SWMBO told me yesterday that she really couldn't complain if I bought another guitar and suggested I offer more than what I intended to offer. As usual, she's right. I intend to obey as always and may have another O tonight.

Took so long??? I thought I was spending TOO much time here. AJ should overtake me by mid june.

Thanks for your replies everyone, especially Bill, slipkid and Jeff W. Means a lot for a 'newbie' to get acknowledgement from some of the 'old guard'. :)

Congratulations, Murray--we're glad you're here, too.
Please explain an "Aussie-ism" for me; what exactly is a "Pom," and what makes Schroeder one? (Or is this an international private joke?)

A Pom or Pommie is a slang term that we (Australians and New Zealanders) often call British people.
"Bloody whinging Poms" or "Pommie Bastards" is a favourite Aussie beat up saying.
It's generally mean't in good humour.(but not always)
I'm not sure that anybody really knows it's origin, there are several theories.
"Prisoner Of Mother England" POME
"Prisoner of His(Her) Majesty POHM
Whatever, by our standards Schroeder is definitely a Pom.

You always know when a flight from Australia touches down cos when they turn off the engines you can still hear whining.
They lost the World Rugby League Club Championship Final for the 5th year running last night. To an English team. For the 5th year running.
Ignore anything they say. They're all criminals.

i heard it from a very knowledgeable aussie (is that an oxymoron?)friend of mine that "pommie" was a term for the english who often had ruddy faces, resembling a pomegranate.
