In a effort to atone for my questionable behavior as of late I want to offer up to share the 99 songs currently in my songbook.

BUT FIRST!!! If somewhere down the line you recieved a "Slipkids Trinket" disc, you already have it.

SECOND!.. You need to be able to recieve a 2.5mb e-mail. I split it up into two sections so there will be two e-mails of 2.5mb each.

Pick through em. Play what you like, delete what you don't.
I just need your e-mail address.

This kinda begs the general question, how many people here have the tunes they do neatly put together in notebooks?

I've got 2 storage boxes of music tunes, instruction books, etc, in my closet. Occassionally in going thru it, I come upon lists of tunes that I know, but I've never taken (read that as "have had") the time to actually put together a notebook.....

Who has?

Currently I have two notebooks going. One with songs I've pretty much got down and a few new ones to work on and another with songs that I want to get to... someday.
I might have to start a new one exclusivly for ones I'm working on.

I put together a song book. In my own notation or copied from others, I make a photo copy, punch holes in it, and put it in a binder. Matt Smith suggested this. So I have one book I made for music, and another for all things guitar, such as magazine articles ... and then I recycle the mags.

I would imagine that everybody who gigs needs a book with all their tunes. I do know that when faced with a microphone, the ability to forget the second verse of any tune runs rampant in my brain......

Got a binder I put almost everything I've ever learned by self transcription. It's alphabetized and goes back to stuff written in pen and ink on looseleaf with chords written as a superscript. The newer stuff is computer printed, but I still put the chords in by hand. I never use notes on stage and just use the book as a reference for when I update my active songlist.

I have over 3100 pop/folk/country songs, with maybe 150 dupes due to variations, in Word format that I've gathered over the past two years from various sources.

As I view/play 'em I correct what I know is incorrect/incomplete and add tabs if I need 'em.

Since I don't gig I keep 'em on the 'puter. But I am hoping to start a notebook of those very few that I am not ashamed to play for the Grandbabies. :D

I also have collected over 200 videos of lessons and favorite performances. These really tend to aid my motivation and refreshes my memory.

I'm at a point now that I rarely have to go out and add to my libraries. But when I do, it normally opens up a path I haven't traveled or have forgotten.

I just recently organized mine into notebooks, by the artist's last name. Paul, I don't even need a mike to forget the words or chords. All I have to do is think about somebody else listening and I draw a blank. It took me a couple hours to think of the name of someone who performed one of the songs I had so I could get it in the right place.
On the other side of the coin, I still have the spiral binder I used to write down lyrics from songs I was trying to learn in the early 70s. What's amazing is that without tabs, computers or any fancy recording equipment, I did a pretty good job of figuring out the words and music to a bunch of songs.

I started mine with the singer/songwriter contest. I've got two books, one is other peoples songs and the other book is mine.
It's suprising how fast they fill up! Before I was like Moody, just stuff in a folder. Funny what makes you do things and the affect it can have on you.

I am contantly updating five guitar specific binders depending upon music type or purpose. In other parts of the house, we have maybe 100 notebooks of choreography material and shows we've been involved in, and SWMBO has a personal library of sheet music numbering at least a thousand. That happens when you've been a soloist for 45 years (her, not me).

lately when I need lyrics or charts I have been searching for them on the web and saving them to word. I have a couple of dz right now. I used to just print them out but I decided to save to word to be able to send them to others etc.

a good project may be if we collected a pile of tunes from everyone put them on a cd and passed them around.

I always find it interesting to see what others are working on and to get ideas for myself

any thoughts?

Great idea, Al. I'll bet most of us have stuff in various formats. It'd be great to pool it all.

Perhaps an OFC membership songbook disc like this could be part of the next years calendar package.

While we're (we?) doing this, can you make it interactive so if someone has a higher or lower voice range, we could just auto-change the key the charts are in and also...

Ok, maybe not.

Weas, would you like somebody to just come over to your house and play the guitar for you from behind a screen while you hold your guitar and just look like you're playing?

Sure... they'll also be a holographic projection of the original artist performing the song.. in whatever key you choose!

Seriously - I'd be happy to take on this project. If that's ok with everyone, start sending stuff my way and I'll get it going.

Brad - I've got yours - thanks!
