Does anyone know where I can find an .mp3 of the "Olympic Theme" that ABC uses??

Jeanette works for the local Regional YMCA and they have some type of Benefit coming up and needs the song for an awards presentation . . .

Any ideas??

Cliff, if you mean the one by John Williams, you can get it here.

If not, you'll probably find the one you're looking for on this page.

Yeah right. You probably want to use it for the intro at the beginning of your gigs.

ABC uses this for their broadcasts, but I'm not sure I ever heard it at the Olympics. I attended all the track and field events in Los Angeles at the 1984 Olympics and the song I remember primarily hearing over the public address system in the Colliseum was the opening theme to the movie Chariots of Fire.

Pick up the Telarc CD "Stars & Stripes" by The Cleveland Winds, directed by Frederick Fennel. Fantastic CD of concert band marches and stuff like that. Includes the Olympic Theme mentioned above, plus the John Williams theme of the '84 Olympics and a whole bunch of other concert band march stuff. Highly recommended.

If it truly is the Olympic theme, be careful where you use it. The International Olympic Committee is even more propriatorial than 'The Mouse' when it comes to their intellectual property.

I heard they're even thinking of suing Olympia Washington before 2010.

It was written for the 84 Summer Olympics (LA).

"Chariots" was used at the 84 Winter Olympics. (Brad - sure you weren't in Sarajevo?)

That must be why they closed down the Oly brewery.

It was blaring everyday as you walked into the Colliseum, and it was impressive. Maybe they couldn't get enough of it at Sarajevo so they kept it going in the summer.

Maybe. My mind isn't so clear during those years. Maybe Carl Lewis was on skates come to think of it. Nah, it had to be summer. Too many skimpy little outfits. The music was blaring everyday as you walked into the Colliseum, and it was impressive. Maybe they couldn't get enough of it at Sarajevo so they kept it going in the summer.

"Chariots" is a nice piece. I like a lot of Vangelis' work. Particularly "Oceanic" and the "Blade Runner" soundtrack.
