Wondering since it was announced, if I should buy one or not, with already having way too much guitars, today I pulled the trigger on a 1581-KK for a ridiculous price.

Since I love Kaki's music since her first album, having all her cd's and the same initials, I felt the urge to buy it. Again and again. Now I can't await the arrival of Dave's daughter's guitar.

Pictures will follow, if interested.

Happily,

Kurt

Congrats on the new KK Kurt, and that's too cool about the initials. Oh, and please disregard the gender comment on the other page. I'm sure it looks very manly on you!

Today it arrived, and from the first try (with factory/store worn strings) I'm very pleased. Depthwise I am not sure, but ii is definitely deeper than a regular mid depth bowl and possible as deep as a regular Adamas deep bowl. After hanging in the store for so long the fingerboard was dry like the Nevada, so I gave her an oil bath, new strings and some other cosmetic goodies, now she is waiting for getting played. More pics tomorrow! Best regards, Kurt

Thank you!!! Let's wait til tomorrow for more pics, in the old world it's already dark.

I'll take pictures of the inside at well; I am too interested in the bracing. And if there is a difference to the 1581.

Best regards,
Kurt

Kurt, Kaki is selling some of her personal gear on eBay. So far nothing I am dying to have but who knows what will come up.

Thanks, FlySig. Seems to be that everything has been sold. And the last one available... I'm overchallenged enough with six strings.

Maybe I'll ask Dave to force his daughter to send me an autograph. Maybe.

Okay, I took some more pics:

Glad they have come back to Schaller's on their higher priced guitars:

I have never been a big fan of rosewood fingerboards, but the grain on this one is fabulous!

Bracings: Al said, that the KK should have heavier braces than the regular 1581.

alpep - 2013-02-20 12:39 AM braces are a little heavier to endure playing the top like a bongo

Can't back him up on this when comparing the 1581 Reissue...

...with the 1581-KK:

Depth of the bowl - if no regular deep Bowl, as stated on the homepage, then it's definitely deeper than a regular mid-depth bowl. Maybe according to the Supsension ring?

Didn't find the time to play it too much, but it sounds wonderful - like an Adamas should. And I like the D-Shape of the neck, not as chunky as the V-Shape of the original Adamas II, and more close to those on our Slothead Reissues. As well I think it's a little bit lighter in weight than my other amplified Adamaii.

Best regards,

Kurt

Kurt, congrats for your new guitar. I should say I like them both.
Tell us if you notice some evident sound difference....
You German OFCers have a bunch of wonderful instruments there (Bernie ?) right ?
Maybe one day we will meet up to exchange opinions without the help of computers. Whatever, the forum is a great help. Beautiful pics.

Very nice. Also very efficient use of wall space. Maybe I'll copy that after the next move.

Yep, I'd wish, I had more walls, then I'd have some more guitars.

But she forgot to write "To King Kurt from Kaki King". Dunno why.

When she plays a show near you go see her. She is very personable. She wrote a nice note for my daughter Sara on a poster.

Stephen had to give me a guitar to get me to leave. First he threatened to record me, but that scared me more than he knew. Generally, I stay until after closing time. That's what Karl and I did in Rottenburg. Best 4 hour gig I ever had. (It was my only gig, but it was still a great time.)

+1

Kurt, can't wait to read about a comparison of this two guitars.

When I have well-regulated my personal circumstances, I will prepare a new OFC-Europe-Meeting, but it's too late for this year. I hope in 2014....

Drooling...

Like a stalker, I noticed that you have a Shiny Classic... I have patiently waited a long time to get one and I guess everyone has a tight grip on the ones that are out there.

So.........since you do have one, Kurt, can you share with me if they have a deeper fuller classical response than a typical deep bowl nylon?

Thanks

jay

Hi Jay, sorry, but I have to dissapoint you: the shiny bowl is a Josh White Reissue, so - steel string.

My only nylon is the black Country Artist you can see on one pic, and this is no shiny bowl.

Photographs--as well as this thread, in general--are excellent. Still looking forward (with great anticipation) to your thoughts, once you have had some time to play the guitar.
