Just in case the World ends tomorrow... Thank you for your friendship and that warm sense of belonging that the OFC has provided!

If it doesn't... I'll be thinking about pictures for the 2014 Calendar!

The Mayans were a very wise and foreseeing race.

They knew Patch was gonna pick up the ball and run with it.

If I didn't know ya'll were guitar players, I'd wonder if you were ignorant banjo playing truth haters.

The Mayan Apocalypse was averted by Al Gore's efforts back in the 80s. Which some of you may recall was the time when synths almost took over fretted instruments, but I digress. The fact that the world continues into 2013 will be further confirmation of Al Gore's infallibility.

PC disclaimer: Banjo players can be brilliant, just check out Fleck. The phrase "ignorant banjo playing" is clearly only focused on that particular subset of banjo players.

Maybe sales of the OFC calendar would have been better if not for the doomsayers. Just watch, Patch will get a whole bunch of orders on Saturday. Personally, I'm looking forward to hanging the calendar up for next year and spending more time playing my Ovations. But first, I'm looking forward to Christmas with family.

I was up at 3am as I usually am from pain awakening me. Around 5 I realized the end was supposed to happen within a half hour. I sat and waited for the next big bang. Damn. Looks like I have no more excuses left for not raking up all those leaves from the giant post oaks all over in my yard!

Well, I woke up this morning. Saw the Balladeer still sitting on the guitar stand. Checked ebay and saw my "new" Elite is marked as shipped. Holy crap, the world DID end last night! This must be heaven!

"If the Mayans were any good at predicting the future, they'd still be around."--something I read on Facebook last night. Guess I better go Christmas shopping.

Dude! The Mayans ARE still here. They're in the Yucatan where they've always been.

.....and we're still here, which really screws up MY holiday plans.....

I thought so, but I liked the quote anyway. There was an article in our paper this morning about some doing a Mayan dance. Maybe one of them should have just added a few more years to the calendar.
Since I'm still here, I need to spend some time really getting ready for retirement. I'll check with SWMBO to see if she'll agree to my version of the Tony Calman retirement plan: I'll buy all of Tony's extra guitars and then sell them during retirement. I'll let you all know what she thinks of that idea. She didn't like my other one: I retire and she keeps working so I can get on her health insurance.

NEWS FLASH... this just in... intrepid reporter Tad Dopey has concluded an exclusive interview with local Yucatan villagers (descendants of the Mayans) regarding the Mayan Calendar End-of-Days. They have just explained to him that they must now embark on a long, difficult journey...  to Barnes & Noble for a new calendar!

They should've pre-ordered from Patch!

I can't believe you all fell for that Mayan calendar story. Everyone knows that the real end of the world is Dec 2099 when the Microsoft Windows calendar ends.

Well, so much for Calendars.

But I do suggest you all turn back your scales 10 pounds for the Holiday Season...

Bobbo, where were you in 1999? I was so annoyed by all the techno and business geeks making everyone become Y2K compliant. What a bunch of BS. They created a whole cottage industry over the paranoia about computers crashing when the clock hit midnight. Just get a paper calendar and write stuff down. (I don't allow any writing on the OFC calendars, though).

Five work days left on my day job and I am retired!   Still have the adjunct teaching, choreography and band gigs to keep SWMBO and the grandkids in new shoes.

41 years with the same employer is plenty of loyalty for one lifetime.

Mark, I was one of those techno geeks at the time. My employer forced me to work graveyards during the Y2K event. Which turned out to be a complete non-event. Got my cubicle very clean, that was for sure, since the phone never rang. Oh, and literally made enough money to put a down payment on my house. So no complaints from me![
