I did a Google image search for a 1537 after a recommendation for them I got in an email from another OFC'r. I found several that had a center, round soundhole that was clearly identified as being a 1537 in the text below the pic. Is this info wrong? He mentioned one with "flush epaulets" too, is that a variation of a 1537? Do 1537's rarely show up for sale anymore? I have to own one before my number is up, but have to find an unbelievable deal on it since I exist on a disability income.

Never regretted the investment. Hands-down, the best critter in the herd. Almost plays itself- fortunate, since I'm not a gifted player! And, all 1537's have epaulets.

Furthermore, you said "I have to find an unbelievable deal on one", while nerdydave is willing to spend any amount of money (I took a little liberty with that). I don't see any need for a "Rule Book check"

His first post in this thread states he is actively looking for one to buy. I only wanted to see what BobG would come up with in a reply. I could really care less how many people pirate this thread to their own end. I believe that somewhere out there is an Elite to die for the Universe has already tagged me as the next owner of. Until it surfaces, all the rest of them can be the object of bidding wars, and usurped threads.

We have provided behavior modification to adults and juveniles assigned by court, probation, and parole AT NO COST TO THE TAXPAYER - offender pays as it should be. Fun things such as assault/battery, theft, shoplifting, etc. Fortunate that this company will continue as the buyer has been with me since 19930 Little time in the last three weeks to even play my 60+ guitars. Soon, I will be looking at the A's, O's, and Taks that I will consider selling. Whether the 1537, a prototype Elite, or several others...never been led astray by a guitar from Bill Kaman. This even shared some time in Charles' home. It is just that when I want to be nostalgic and mellow out, I have a tendency to pick up the 68-69 GC Artist, the 68 Deluxe Balladeer, #50 pre-production Adamas slot-head, or the Martin D-25K2. If I am not playing a guitar, then it is offered. Edited by Tony Calman 2012-11-30 9:25 PM

Joined: September 2005 Posts: 3619 Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | It would indeed be very rare to see a good 1537 go "cheap". With that said, if you are just looking for a good "player" guitar, and are willing to tolerate something with a repaired crack in the top, you may eventually find one. They are truly special guitars, and worth any reasonable investment.

To my defenders I offer thanks -- to my attackers I offer the utmost compassion. For we are all of the same ilk here -- Ovation lovers till we depart this mortal coil. In the end there will be enough 1537's to go around to those who simply cannot survive without them. I wish luck to those who seek them ardently -- if I get one it will be sweet. If I do not I will continue to enjoy my 1681-9 and rejoice in the fact that I am one of the 1% -- the 1% who have been privileged to play an Adamas before crossing that bridge from which no man returns (and only a few women!). Thank you all for your participation in this lively discussion -- stay sweet forever!!
