Joined: August 2012 Posts: 227 | It was suggested, so I have created the thread. It is hard to talk about topics the revolve around sound, without posting ...sound. I would guess the best thing to do, to learn about what guitars sound like or play like is it see them and hear them. With that in mind, is there going to be a gathering of O heads in southern California anytime soon ? My hope is to find out what I like in my price range. My fear is what I like will NOT be in my price range and if that dude had NOT brought out that custom ordered , only enough wood from the tree of the ancients to make ONE guitar, topped Ovation, I would have been fine with a simple under appreciated, possibly made in Korea, but fine sounding, 12 string and have gone away happy.

Southern California = South of Santa Barbara and north of Mexico ? Where I am is the "high desert" and I doubt anyone hangs out here, so I would expect to need to travel a bit. The corridor of quicker travel would be north of the 91 freeway, but if there were a serious meeting of the minds in San Diego, I could make the effort.

LOL
And chances are good that the O will still be worth around what it cost you... if you decide to sell it.
How good of deal you're able to find will likely be determined by how long you're willing to wait for that perfect one to come along. Want divided by Budget multiplied by Impatience equals Your Choice

I've thought the Adamas line was cool since they came out, but since I just play for my own pleasure, that kind of money is just not justified. ( I'm waiting to find that want ad of the wife selling off the husbands stuff REALLY cheap, in a divorce fight, to get one. )

Almost all Ovations sound good plugged in. It's when you're home playing for yourself, family, or friends, that you want the best acoustic sound possible.....

He even said he could drive as far as San Diego if needed. Everyone seems to be ignoring the initial request of a SoCal gathering....or the opportunity to meet and try a few guitars.

Then you can hear the uniqueness of each model in peace and quiet, really spend some quality time with each chosen instrument. Gatherings can be a bit chaotic.

The NEW museum is by the 15 freeway in Victorville. Of course, that is closed because the kids took the show to Branson, Missouri.
