It is the T construction, which means the one piece maple neck rather than the skunk strip LX neck. Same modern neck profile as the LX guitars though. I would rank it up there as one of the great modern Ovation models.

Hey, Jim. Thanks for the nice comment about my collection of guitars. Obviously, I love anything with strings on it, lol. No brag, just fact: I do have some nice ones, some of which can be viewed in a slide show, here: http://www.myspace.com/willa_muse under the 'my guitars' gallery. Some women collect shoes. I have enough shoes. Guitars are MUCH more fun and as Damon's signature states: "How many are enough? Just one more!" Yeah. That's the ticket. Willa Edited by WillaMuse 2012-07-10 3:40 AM

First guitar I ever bought (almost) blindly on the Bay, red with rage that I'd got sniped on an Adamas 1581 (still haven't got one and aching for one). Think I payed about 800 for it back in 2008, I wonder for how much this will sell now. If I had the money I'd buy it - just to have an extra ... I would sell all of my guitars before this one. Dunno, has something to it ... PS Willa, stunning collection indeed ... well done and good luck with further purchases, play'em well! Edited by Ammons 2012-07-10 7:31 AM

Thanks, Ammon. I have to add more to the slideshow when I have the time. I'm a gonna get me a 1581 ...

I find it odd that Alpep still has new ones of these for sale (it's where I bought mine) With all the griping about production moving to Asia, you'd think all the remaining USA models would be gone, but nope.... still plenty new USA stuff out there to be had.

Damon, since you have one, can you please enlighten/remind us?: Are those 1581 re-issues contour bowls, deep bowls, medium bowls, or what? Are they hand-laid fiberglass, or some other variant of Lyrachord? (and which one?) I remember those questions being tossed around when Al first mentioned he was getting them, but I don't recall the answers. Edited by standing 2012-07-10 8:03 PM

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6994 Location: Jet City | It is definately a deep bowl, but can't tell you if it's hand-laid fiberglass or Lyrachord. It has 2 eppies, not single like later models. It sounds heads and shoulders above any other I've owned, including my 2080, and a 1687 I no longer have (let it go after getting this one)

Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1433 Location: Right now? | What's Al's website? Al's website is here: http://www.LostArtVitage.com Check it out: "Lost Art Vintage is the #1 Adamas dealer in the USA!!!!!!!!!" They are deep bowls. The one I'm getting is like Damon's, with the "outie" double epaulets. As a matter of fact, I think the one with the double epaulets shown on Al's website under the 1581's is mine! Al will most likely pop in and clear things up. Get one (or two, or three) gorgeous Adamas instruments while supplies last. From then on, it's custom orders only for a new Adamas, and like I said, he's got some goodies over there, but his Adamas inventory is dwindling ... Willa Edited by WillaMuse 2012-07-11 10:23 PM

Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1433 Location: Right now? | Jim, Again, the guitar shown above is gorgeous. I hope the price is fair to both parties. I hate when they sell for less than what they are worth. I mean, of course I like to score a bargain, but I love O's and As, and as I mentioned somewhere else, I think this one, with the black finish and koa epaulet is very beautiful. I hope one of the members scores it.
