I should post a price. $1,050. plus S&H. CONUS only. Will consider reasonable negotiation. Will send photos if requested, 'cause I don't have one available right now. Donation will be made to da club. Willa Edited by WillaMuse 2012-03-20 7:55 PM

Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1433 Location: Right now? | I have a feeling that the guy who posted this was probably trying to hunt out what he could expect one to sell for. There was a 1996 on Ebay about a week before that was posted at a very high starting bid. I don't think it sold, and not long afterwards that post came up. My '96 C is really a great guitar. I am very surprised that not much is available on them. Mine is one of the nicest guitars I have as far as looks and better yet, playability and sound. It's awesome, and certainly worth a decent price, but still, considering this economy and what guitars are being sold for, his expectations were a bit much. I posted one of my 1537's a while ago that I thought would sell fast, and while it had lots of 'lookers', it did not sell. I can't say I was sorry though. I was relieved, because it is undoubtedly one of my best.

Would love to see some photos. zack.sosebee (at) gmail.com PS, what's with the threads not automatically showing up? I'm having to click individual posts under a thread since the new look?

Currently 96C is offered on ebay ($1500) and two more (WA and MA, $700 each, more than adequate) @ Guitar Center http://used.guitarcenter.com/usedgear/index.cfm?page=2&srch&categor... Good luck! Alex.

MatureWolf, I find myself happy that you agree; I was thinking for a while that maybe it was that I had gotten a particularly 'good' one, because you do not find much info on them. Kurt Koenig tricked his out with new tuners and such. It looks great, and I bet it sounds FAB. I know he sold a few things, so I do not know if he still owns it (Kurt, if you read this, please post a good shot of yours). I have yet to see a photo (except for Kurt's) that even begins to do that guitar justice. It is really VERY beautiful to see 'in person'. Photos usually make it look red or crappy purple. It is a rich, deep, almost-black finish that actually sort of looks velvety somehow, and the MOP inlay is gorgeous! Willa

The sales guy there said that there was an issue with the pre-amp and that they were deciding whether to replace it on their dime or sell it at a reduced price. The price did not go down, so I'm assuming they fixed it. Just remember you have 30 days. Hope it works out-she was a beauty!

Hi Willa, still have it and won't ever let that one go. It was one of my first "higher class" O's and is still one of my favorites! I didn't like the gold hardware to the silverish/black look of the guitar, so I installed chrome tuners and knobs and had the neck glossed. Kinda looks like a dark CL, but with MoP instead of Abalone, which makes it different. Funny, it is the guitar that impresses my Ovation friends the less, but is the go to guitar for my wood box friends.
And the pics for Willa, best regards, Kurt

As I recall, Iffy got my first one several years back. ) (GAS can be stupid.) And I still find myself looking for one occasionally. Edited by Patch 2012-04-28 10:02 AM

And again, just look at that gorgeous 1996 so well represented in Kurt's photos. ;p Willa Edited by WillaMuse 2012-05-01 3:41 AM

I bid on the one on the bay last week but stopped at $1500 -- it sold for just over that. Guess I didn't want it bad enough?? But the concept is intriguing -- Adamas quality but WT sound. I have never played one but would love to someday. Anyway keep me posted if you hear of one. Thanks. nerdy dave
