I'd probably get it but I'm broke, go figure Here's a Link It might stay cheap so long as I don't bid on it. Not to be outta-touch with the zeitgeist of the OFC, but that book keeps being too expensive. I just wanna READ the book... (and maybe not even that... I still haven't read Guitar for Dummies and I've owned it for years) So I just wanna look through the thing, check-out some pics. (maybe I could buy it, read it, and then sell it again) If it was available to read online I would be SO Happy. They need to re-issue that book.

I did a quick search on my favorite used book site and found only over priced softcover copies (cheapest one being $125!) Next, for grins I did a generic search on Google and found a hardcover copy listed by a third party vendor via the Barnes and Noble site. $73 later including shipping I have a pristine hardcover copy that even has a mylar protector over the dust jacket! Still a little more than I would like to have paid, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far! Don't give up! A few minutes spent searching once in while and you might get lucky!

I've had lots of good luck over the years buying books via that site. This time, not so much. There's even some people on there who've apparently used WAY too many recreational chemicals and think they can get $500 for one.....methinks it would need to come with a matching guitar to be worth that! Guess they don't realize that "value" is a relative term.

I have a few copies I need to put up on e bay Not sure if you are serious Al, but since almost anyone who would bid for one on EBay would probably be a member here anyway, maybe you should just go ahead and list them here in the For Sale section or on your web-site, put any price you want on em', see what happens?

When one sells on eBay, there's always a thread here where the price police comment on how the buyer paid too much and putting forth ideas on how to get them cheaper and what they're really worth. Just sayin'.

Evidently they're rare enough to market up. Hardbacks are much harder to find than soft. As I understand, the Book Guitar came with one, which is why I bought this one. If I sell the guitar (which I probably won't) I'll get the price of the book back. And I'll still have the autographed soft cover that a member here was gracious enough to have signed for me. Another explanation is that I'm just plain addicted to buying this stuff.

Then there's this catalog http://www.ebay.com/itm/60s-Ovation-Acoustic-Guitar-Catalog-Brochur... I've had one since 1972 when they first came out. I few years ago I bought another one that was practically mint and ended up giving it away to somebody on the board (I'm still in the hole as he's given me much more than the market value of the catalog, and that's not even including the price of friendship!). I miss the days when people just jumped in and gave away stuff they didn't need and got stuff they did......

If I was smart, I'd have had them get me the remaining ones they had in other stores and sold them. But I'm not smart and, like Paul, I probably would have given my extra copies away. I have quite a few trinkets and momentos from other board members that I appreciate greatly and I'm sure I'm also in the hole as far as repaying favors, but the most everyone here has exchanged favors without any implied or expressed expectations of favors in return.

Joined: September 2006 Posts: 10777 Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Would anyone like to Buy a Hardcover History of the Ovation Guitar? This is the copy that I bought, and I have read it. I really have no place to "collect" books, so I will send this on to someone who might want to Keep It. I was told that this was found in the back room of a music store, the seller bought in whole store... There is a small ¾" tear in the dust jacket, plus it looks like some insect was eating on another corner of the jacket. But there are no nibble-marks on the book itself. A few of the back pages are a little dog-eared on the bottom, and One page inside has a fold mark on it. Otherwise it is in good condition. No "old" smell or anything like that. Nothing is faded. It is in good Library book condition. If it was a guitar I would give it a 9 outta 10. $55 shipped Medium Flat Rate Box. PayPal or Postal Money Order. This is USA price only. Sorry. Compare
