A new electronic assembly, new Wilkenson bridge, lots of cleanup and a setup later....

She's a beauty! I've been playing it for the past 2 evenings. I must say it's one of the best playing electric guitars I've ever had the fortune to posses. I really like the tonal options and the pups scream! I like the Wilkinson trem and locking sperzles. It keeps in tune well.

On to the pics!

If it sounds half as good as it looks, you've got a winner!

Anybody thinking about getting rid of any of their guitars should just send them to Damon and have him photograph them for you. You'll wonder, "What was I thinking??" and keep them.

WTG Damon,
Nice axe and great pics.
Active electronics? looks like a battery compartment on the back.
Don't see many set necks on that style of git either.
What PUPS?

WOW, that's something that would make an acoustic player want to move over to the solid body side!

Thanks everyone. I've wanted one for a long time but could never afford one. When I saw this one, I jumped on it. It needed some work, but it doesn't anymore. There are a couple nicks and scratches, but it plays exactly as it should now.

Capt, the Mosrite is coming along. It's still out East at Hallmark Guitars. I talked to Bob Tuesday, and he was in the middle of carving a new replacement (original spec) bridge out of aluminum. He's been off promoting his new guitar line, but is back at the shop and has been putting time in here and there. I'm pretty sure I'll have some more "porn" to share in about a month.

The Mosrite is definitely THE PROJECT. I've had that one sitting around for too long.

"pickups - Carvin C22J & C22B humbuckers"

How do those compare to M-22's. I use an M22 on the bridge position of my custom Viper. Those 22 pole pickups are amazing.

Miles, it depends on the M22. There are a few different ones.

Here's a chart from the site...

LBJ, Carvin is the only place to buy one new. They have a a few retail stores in CA, but aside from those I think the website is the only other place. The acoustic option costs $200 extra, but they're doing 50% off on all cases, options, and finishes right now. Is it a trem bridge with the option or the wilkinson?

Basic model no options is $1200. acoustic, add $100. Depending on finishes/trem/case options, they can get close to $2k.

Need more info to get you a better idea. Got a link?

Those of you that aren't aware of what Carvin has been doing for decades on end need to get with the program. Hands down the best solidbody electrics you can buy for the money, and maybe even regardless of the money, for 20+ years. Untold options to suit your tastes, and attention to detail you won't find elsewhere. They just don't make them like they used to? Carvin does. The only guitar I have or know of that rivals Carvin for quality is my 30-year-old Ovation.

They've been doing parts and pickups even longer, they started in the 40's I think. My '63 Mosrite has Carvin magnets in the pickups. They were both southern california companies, so that makes sense.

I seem to remember some Carvin guitars from the early 60's too.
