I just asked another member where his screen name comes from, or what it means.

I know this thread did the rounds a few years back, coz its in the Archive. It was before I 'arrived' here, and I thought it might be interesting to ask the question again.

I'll kick it off.

In Australia, we're verbally lazy, so we shorten everything and throw in a 'z' somewhere. My real name is Murray, so I'm Muzza or Muz. If your name was Gary or Perry, you'd be Gazza (Gaz), or Pezza (Pez) Jewels Mom (Karen) would be Kazza or Kaz.

We also tend to give people names that are completely opposite to who/what they are. Eg someone with red hair invariably goes by the nickname of 'Bluey'.

What about you??

My screen name is my real name. Absolutely no imagination in Canada.

However, down your way, I know a 'muzzo' is a musician so thought that was where your nick' came from. Just a fortunate coincidence I guess.

In a delete bin tonight I saw an Aussie movie I really liked. \'Garage Days\' What if you finally got your big break and you just plain sucked?

There are better movies. But it's good fun.

I had to read that word a few times to understand what you meant. 'Muso' - pronounced 'meeoozo' is short for musician, but I wasn't aware that it was an Australianism. I thought it was an international term.

I haven't seen Garage Days yet, I'll look out for it.

So is Fillhixx really Phil Hicks?

I use Distant as an "artistic" name.......for music......

my music isn't very normal by "human" standards......neither am i.......i try to "distance" myself from people........i can be very hermit-like sometimes.......i don't like going out in public much......luckily i have a pretty wife, who feels almost the same.....hahaahah.........

i also thought Distant sounded creepy......hahaha........

but everyone on this forum seems really nice.........i only registered this week.........but it's been very helpful.........

CrimsonLake was the name of my band in highschool... can't let go of the glory days I guess. Our lead guitarist actually came up with the name - he was a big fan of King Crimson and ELP.

Edit - this is my 999th post and I'm off to neverneverland - I mean Asheville in a few. Hopefully I'll have something good for the 1000th post.

Mine is the title of a WHO song.
If I had known I'd be around this long I might have given it more thought.
I wonder if by now when someone reads a post of mine do they think "Brad" or "Slipkid"?

I was going to change mine to Trader Jim because of all the guitar activity I've been through in the past 2 months or so, but decided to just add that at the sig line.

Hmm.. Mine came from a 7 years old cousin when I came to visit my uncle. He made me register on this online pet website thingy and got me a pet of "kougra" species. It kinda look like a tiger actually. And I think kougra has a nice ring to it; besides the fact that I also like cougars in general.

Oh, just so everyone knows, I haven't been playing that online game since then.. Honest! :p

"considering or despite the amount of carnage witnessed, the circumstances of the accident, personal trauma received and his personal relationships with all who were killed or injured... the subject is still able to calmly describe what occurred, seems relatively adjusted and rational and appears...

Amazingly-Detached.....might have been curiously detached, only got the chance to read it off my chart once.... the night they forgot to lock the door...

Mine's from a fantasy I always had about wanting to be a private investigator. In reality, I work the drive up window at the local Dairy Queen......

Mine is from Shakespeare's Sonnet 116:

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when its handle finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his hair be sparse.
Love's not Time's fool, though thickening 'round the middle
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no llama ever loved.

You sure it wasn't a fantasy about being a dairy queen? :p

Mine is derived from the name of the element Crustonium (specifically the isotope Ci-69), which occurs immediately prior to Illudium Pu-39 in the periodic table of elements.

Or, something.

I didn't say it was a good name.

Actually, a visit to CaptainLovehandles-dot-com should explain things. Or not.

Mine is a shortened version of my nickname and real name, kept short because I cut my teeth trying to save multiple file names within the eight digits that DOS would allow.

We should have stopped the clock at Wordperfect 5.1!

Much like Paul(?) I work the Drive-up window at a local Starbucks. But unlike Paul, I am really, really hot! For sometime I did UPS delivery but I found the uniforms were always too constricting. Don't you just love the internet?

And these ARE the Glory Days (His not mine).
