I know it sounds like I'm obsessing. Fine. My daughter is graduating from University of Portland in May and has a house rented from the University that I think would be ideal for a gathering. She agrees. It's on a bluff overlooking the river with acres of empty land. The nearest neighbors are a few hundred feet away. Both houses are also rented to students. She's in the house until August.
We're having a graduation party for her and her roommates on May 4. That's what made me think of this.
If anyone is interested in another NW gathering and is looking for a place for it, this would be ideal. Parking might be a bit of a problem, but the campus isn't too crowded in the summer.
Of course, if you'd all like to come to Idaho this year, that option is always good for me.

hmmmm, Party On Campus.
You really think something like that would work?

We'd need a keg.

I'm sure it's never been done before. The campus police are just down the street, but they seem friendly.
I don't recall any of those invisible screen doors on the house, so we'll have to find some other form of entertainment for you.

Got a firmer date in mind? May through August is one heck of a long time to hold a gathering.

But i'm interested. Unfortunately, i had to miss the one at Miles' last year.

I'll try to get some dates and let you know, except for Moody and Jeff. I'll give them a different date, so if they show up it will be after she moves out in August. The rest of the NW group I trust, maybe wrongly, but we'll let the police handle it if you get out of hand.
For right now, let's see if there's any interest in the location. If I end up picking dates that don't work for others, then someone else can figure out what to do.

Your wife?

My daughter attended one of these at gh1's house, although I was a bit concerned about her hanging out with a bunch of dirty old men. Everyone was very well behaved, at least until we left. That was probably her frame of reference when she agreed to host this one.
Arthur, you don't have to wear a cast, but please wear a shirt.

If need be we can certainly do it my house again. Although i've moved a tiny bit east of the old house, it does have more outdoor area, but less inside.

And it is only a couple of blocks off the TriMet 20 route Arthur :)

Sligoman lives pretty close to you, Greg, but we haven't heard from him in awhile. Both of you live close to one of my brothers, which would also work well with me. Somehow my daughter has managed to do well in school, despite spending her senior year in what everyone acknowledges is a great party house. We just thought it would nice to have a(nother) party there before she has to give it up.

I'd be up for attending.

Arthur, I couldn't play a song to save my life but they keep letting me show up for these things.

I promise to wear a shirt, as well.

David handed out shirts at the first one. Our daughter got accepted to Pacific U, but also to Columbia. She's going to visit New York tomorrow. I wonder how you compare New York to Forest Grove. Not exactly apples to apples.

Mark, our sitter graduated from Pacific grad school and I'm sure she'd be happy to talk to your daughter about the school. If she lives out this direction, we'd gladly trade sitting jobs for pocket change. I suspect NY would pull way ahead on the culture-factor, though. ;-)

No greater reason to take another ride up to the pacific northwest. Depending on dates, count me in. Hopefully, not early July. We're on a concert tour in Europe!

My experience with campus housing was that there were no screen doors. Even before I got there.

Al, in west coast argot they're not 'bims', they're 'uncomlpicated'.

....um, incomple..

Surmountable!

Hey Mark, I emailed you this week.

Let me know when it will be and I'll do my best to be there. Is she going down to the WCC tournament in Vegas. UP's doing pretty well this year. My household are all Zag fans (Me, my wife and 3 of my daughters graduated there in various years).

The UP area is nice. I can usually find my way around, unlike the west side where I am normally lost.

Didn't get the email. Maybe it didn't make it through a spam filter. Either the computer one or my wife.
Daughter's not going to the WCC. She thought this year UP would beat the Zags for once, but no such luck. Graduation is May 4. Maybe everyone should just bring their guitars over and crash the graduation party.

Lord, wouldn't they love that. UP may get another shot at the Zags. The Zags were a bit ho-hum tonight until the SC fans started throwing stuff on the court. Good for 4 points.

Any updates on a date? I'd be a willing participant. I might even bring a case full of bottles again.
