Location: Marlton, NJ | Finally! It took a week to receive the guitar and now another week to post about it! I wanted to put it on the Tak forum, but it's been down for a week.
This is a simply stunning instrument. It is unlike anything other guitar that I have - mostly Ovations. The fit and finish is spectacular - from the inlays to the binding to the rosette to my birthstone - the Sapphire. For strumming, it's got such a full, deep sound with the lows definitely standing out. All of the notes in the chords are crystal clear. The last Tak I owned was the NEX size. This is the first dread I've ever owned and the difference in the sound is amazing.
For fingerpicking - it took a bit of getting used to - as Dave said it would - because of the neck profile. It's thicker than the O's and with the wider nut width makes it easier on my fingers and hands to play more clearly.
I couldn't be happier!

Location: Phoenix AZ | These are AMAZING guitars. I took mine to the Collings factory tour. Stuck out like a sore thumb (at least it didn't have a plastic back) but it MORE than held it's own sonically.
Since getting mine I have had to retire quite a few other guitars that just could no longer measure up.

The one I was really lusting after was serial #9 - 9 is my favorite number (born 9/9), I was born in 1962 and the sapphire is my birthstone... just seemed like a natural fit (except for the price that is!).
This one was on ebay several times at anywhere from $2300 to $3200 and then the guy relisted it with no reserve. I put in a bid NEVER expecting to win it... but I did and well below the $2300.
It's brand new, from a store, with all of the case candy and the warranty intact.
I had to sell two guitars and a mandolin to be able to square it with SWMBO.
I'll throw this out there - if anyone ever snatches up #9... let's talk. |

The 45th Anniv THE45TH is a great guitar...nothing wrong with NOS (new old stock) and

For the last month or two I have seriously been thinking about selling mine since I also have a Collings CJ and a Bourgeois Vintage DC (all dreadnought size) but over the last 2 weeks I gave all 3 of them a real workout.
Each sounded different and each held it own. For the money the 45th is just a fabulous guitar and at least for the foreseeable future it is staying in the herd.
