While down on Amelia we held an Exectutive Vice Presidents Special Session Meeting of the OFC Calendar Committee.
Vice President Designzilla stated that he needs new pictures to choose from.
I know, I know.... "I've sent a ton of pictures before and none of them have ended up in the calendar".
There are a couple reasons why some pics cannot be used. Most often they do not have the resolution need for calendar size.
Steve... maybe you could chime in and describe what you are looking for.

a good Rule of Thumb:

If you can sucessfully e-mail the photo (or post it here), chances are it ain't gonna' work for the calendar . . .

Aside from resolution and size, are there guidelines or rules posted anywhere in regards to submitting pics?

Follow the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on what is and isn't pornographic. Oh, and chance are that pics of Clifford p*ss*ing on a rival guitar company's sign at the NAMM show ain't gonna make it either.....

OK here is some basic stuff...

Pictures should be taken at the absolute highest resolution that your camera supports

Guitars are tall and skinny when you shoot them straight on, remember that your photo needs to fit into a nearly square page area.

I know this one is a pain in the a$$, but give your photos descriptive names and then include a text file with your photos that says who you are, what model of guitar it is and if there is anything cool or special about it. I would really like to get some captions on everything this year. But the rule is - caption everything or caption nothing.

Take more pictures of your guitar than you need. Take full shots and detail shots.

Be as creative as you want - keep the pics guitar oriented, but use whatever props or settings you want. I think we're ruling out nudity...

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll try to post a few example pics later.

Thanks!
Steve

Oh, is there a format that's preferable? Can you work with RAW format from nikon? tiff? jpeg?

Brad (Slipkid) will give us a moveable deadline this fall. I know this because the deadline is usually my reminder that I was going to take some picture while the weather was still good. So far, none of my pictures have made the calendar. Not because I'm a poor photographer, which I am, but because I've never sent any pictures in. This year will be different. Third time's the charm, right?

Damon, jpegs or tiffs are fine. I'm pretty sure I can use the Nikon Raw format. Basically anything I can open in Photoshop.

As far as deadline, it would be great to get this wrapped up early this year, it would be nice for Brad to be able to send them out in November so everyone has one in plenty of time for the new year.

If we could get pictures submitted by the end of July, that would give plenty of time for production, as well as time go back and ask for more pictures if there aren't enough.

Mark, if you don't take 'em we can't use 'em! You have some great guitars, let's see some pics!

July! There goes the schedule I had all laid out. Not! As soon as the weather gets a little better, so the back yard doesn't look all brown, I'll try some cars and guitars theme pictures.

No deadlines or anything like that yet.
But it is never to soon to ask for pics so I thought now was a good time to ask.

Beggin, you onto something. The Jams are the perfect place for good shots. You've got a great collection, and you involve more people.

Just took the snow tires off last night and there was snow on the ground this morning. Looks like the guitars aren't going out for awhile.

Nice try, Brad. I'm afraid we'll have to deduct ten from your post count for that transparent little charade.
