So Kyle Busch wins a race in Nashville and the trophy is a Gibson Les Paul, He gets it and smashes it to pieces on the concrete, Ritchie Blackmore style.

Well, even if it is a Gibson, that was just plain ignorant. Destroying a perfectly good guitar. But what else would you expect from a spoiled kid?

Why does things have to deteriorate into violence whether it's a good thing (a win) or a bad thing (a loss).
Doese'nt anyone else get bothered by this type of activity?

Come on guys, he was just having fun. His crew wanted a piece of the trophy if he won so he broke up the guitar to divide it up - it was great!
I am sooo tired of the plastic cookie-cutter drivers in NASCAR these days; thank goodness there are still a few like Kyle Bush. Spoiled kid? Do some research before making such statements.

"Oh it breaks my heart to see those stars smashing a perfectly good guitar". -- John Hiatt

I think he should've channelled Hendrix, had his crew douse it with some 104 octane, and lit it on fire.

A Complete Idiot! Pieces for the crew? Guess that’s why he tossed it on the ground after whacking it three times (a real man would have smashed it on the first swing)...NASCAR: Mindless left turning lunacy...ymmv

I'm with you Anita, a very disgusting neanderthal act, an embarassment to the male gender, and it bothered me to watch it as well!

It's his guitar he can do with it what he wants. Who cares. Have we lost yet another freedom?

He's lucky it was a Gibson.

If it had been on Ovation he would now have a black eye and damaged teeth after it rebounded and hit him in the face!!

Here's a guy at the top of his profession, in his moment of glory, and all he wants to do is play rock star.
Did you read the article?? The guy who put all the time and effort into the special paint job was not very happy.

There are only two people in the world that can smash a guitar and not look like a doofus. Townshend is one. I don't have a clue who the other is but he must be out there somewhere.

Would not it be a nicer gesture to give the "whole" guitar to one of his crew?

Someday he will wish he had not done that.

Pete Townshend's first smashed guitar was an accident. He jumped high and broke the head off on a low ceiling. To entertain the crowd he smashed it up. Problem was, the crowds started to demand this behaviour and it cost them a lot of money. I suspect Keith Moon enjoyed the violence though.

What loss of freedom? Yes he's absolutely free to do it. And we're free to criticise him for doing so. Who cares? anyone who appreciates what goes into making a guitar. He could sold it for a charity, donated it to a deserving organisation...

Its real and and a true LP, just with a custom paint job.

He is a true @$$h01e. Many people would love a Gibson LP. (including myself)

Auction it off for charity, do something worth while, but to smash one so you can give away splinters? Unforgiveable.
