Joined: June 2009 Posts: 13 Location: Bradenton, FL | Hello all, This is my first post. I've only been playing for about a year. I have an Ibanez AE18 acoustic/electric and just today I picked up a used Ovation Celebrity CC11 acoustic. I've always liked Ovations and couldn't pass up the deal. The original owner bought the guitar several years ago with the intentions of learning to play. He used it a handful of times and it has sat in its hard case ever since. It still has the oringinal strings on it (which I will change tomorrow). I do have a question though. According to Ovation and this site, my CC11 was discontinued in 1995. Yet according to Ovations website, my guitar was made in 1997. Can anyone shed some light for me?? Serial# 521953. Thanks, Sport

That's really cool that a couple members are so local to me. No worries if noone has the answer to my questions. The guitar might as well be brand new anyway. Can't wait to pick up new strings today!!! As you can imagine, several year old strings are not sounding very good.

Since your CC11 was made overseas it is not relevant to your guitar. BTW... I sold a CC11 a couple of years ago that was an absolute CANNON! Enjoy it.

I'll assume you ride sport bikes - you'll find a few other riders here, though some of us ride what you might regard as sofas. Colin is correct concerning the offshore serial#. And while the Ovation website is often missing models or might have the wrong picture, the serial number system is not "notoriously unreliable" - they simply do not keep track of guitars they don't build in CT. Love the rosette on the Ibanez.

I rode a 1998 GSXR 600 for years but after my son was born i decided to give it up. I really didn't want to but I've had way too many close calls with driver that are oblivious to their surroundings. IMO, Florida has to be the most rider unfriendly state.
