After a week or so of 90-100+ degree days (where I retreat to my cool basement and play the Adamas) and this morning I notice that where my arms lays against the body, the fancy gold foil has taken on a dull lead/silver coloration. I this normal? Can it be brought back or do I just live with it? I can't see myself putting a rag over it everytime I play, so it will probably be an on-going issue, but curious if this has happened to anyone else. Thanks

Either live with it or send it back to the factory. I sent mine back for several other issues as well. Now when I play out with it and it's hot and I'm sweaty, I'm careful to clean it when I get home (little water or Pledge or Dunlop 65 to keep that area clean)....

I know from personal experience what happens to the strings when you let Temp play your guitar. You're right Woody. Moody did have a simular probem. He even posted something about it somewhere.

If you can get it back up to it's normal luster, I would look for something to polish/protect it with. I vaguely remember reading another member had that problem... Maybe Moody would know?

I do wipe down my instrument, but the fine carving is likely not getting wiped in the process. I will just live with it as it presently is my only AE and I need it a couple of times per week. Besides....it may make someone think I actually use it?????

Seems to work for him. I just wipe mine down with Pledge. I think taking a shower once in a while may help also. (;

Wonder if the mother would send me a bottle of touch up paint and a brush...like they used to with new cars?I think taking a shower once in a while may help also. (;

It really isn't that expensive, and it's actually pretty easy. I did gold leafing on signs for quite a while and found it almost as easy as trying to get a good gold paint job.

Nobody can see it when I'm playing, because that's where my arm is. Like Jeff, I'm just gonna keep playing it, but I'm curious about what sort of paint could be used to touch it up, if I ever get that retentive about it.
