Won it on ebay :D i may have paied a little much.. but i love the color so much. I can't seem to find another guitar of this model in this color. Its a cc57 and the lady on the phone described it as olive green. A friend of mine told me that he once had a silver guitar that turned to a olive green color as it aged. Could this be the case here? I've only been able to find this guitar in a silver grey color anyway. Also the serial number on this guitar was 14###5 (cant remember the hole thing) the ovation web site says that it was made in 1978?!?! But then on the price checker list said the cc57 wasent even made untill 1987. So if anyone can provide any information at all on this guitar it would be very helpful :D I wont be able to answer specific questions untill I get it in the mail in a week or two. But thanks in advance everyone :D

I saw one of those that had a tint of green, not much though. There is no catalog of Celebrity serial numbers. Ovation just didn't keep those records as far as we can tell. Regardless, enjoy and wear it out!

But as for the green color, I had one in my shop (sold it in a day). What a beautiful color it was. Greyish-green burst. A real eye catcher. Congratulations. Now pull up a chair and enjoy the madness.

Man from reading around here i had NO clue that many of you made these guitars in factories and worked for ovation! That is wonderful. I am truly envious without even owning a ovation yet! Glad I found this place :D

It has "Celebrity" on the headstock, which only happened for a real short time. Secondly, it also has the two-knobber style electronics, not the OP-20 like it says in the auction, which was also real short lived on the Celebrity line. Great find! And I love the color ... very unique! No one does the unusual colors like the Asians!

When I saw the auction and the color i just couldn't let it go. I'm sure you guys have been in my shoes before ahha. Not to correct you or anything :D but i e-mailed ovation with the serial number and a picture and they responded (within like 5 hours!!) saying that it was built in 1991. So its a year older than me haha. Hard to comprehend really that this guitar can be older than me ha. While it's not as old as i first thought, it doesn't change its beauty. I haven't even held it yet, But i know i'm keeping this a long time. I gota say even with the limited experience with playing ovations i love them. They sound great and the classic guitars aren't expensive at all! I've had to force myself to stop ebay searching because i'm already thinking of saving for another one... $6 a hour and its still worth it lol. So many speical one of a kind and unique guitars... no two are alike.

I'm chuckling in that you're just became another gnat caught in the 'O' web. I bought my first Ovation Celebrity in Jan '07. I now have more 'O's and 'A's than I can play. But oh, what a sweet journey it's been! Just wait until you attend an OFC gathering. You'll be so overwhelmed, not only with the guitars there, but totally captivated by the folk you'll meet! The madness has only begun... ENJOY!

Blah but it's like 1 AM here so I need to stop looking at the guitars and go to bed. I picked up extra morning shifts. For no reason ;D lol Once again thank everyone for being so friendly. I honestly would never have guessed that any guitars would have such a strong following. I like it here already ha.

I would not hesitate to buy from him again. I love my guitar and am already dreaming and scheming to get another Ovation when I can afford it! I hope you have many enjoyable years with your guitar. I got my '68 Deluxe Balladeer from my Dad when I was 17 and there was no looking back, now I'm a guitar snob, I don't even like playing flatbacks at all. HA HA HA The thing 'bout roundbacks is they are kinda like tattoos, once you get your first one, you'll want more.

Just quick question so I don't have to start a new thread. Do I need to keep my Ovation in a humidity controlled cased? Or is it not as important since the back is not wood?

And that is an older Ovation which means the finish may be pretty thick. Changes in the wood may cause finish cracks. Also the neck and the fretboard and the bridge are wood. (I keep humidifiers in the cases of my Adamas and Academy. Both of which have less wood than most)

I've only been playing for like 5 or 6 years and honestly it is the best decision I've ever made. Lessons provide great motivation don't they ha. Little expensive for me though. If you're starting off with an Ovation i gotta say i'm pretty jealous :D haha
