Joined: May 2009 Posts: 325 Location: Utica, NY | An astute lister queried about Glen Campbell: Hey! ... Why isn't he a member of the OFC? This guy is an Ovation legend. (no pun intended) He's played so many different models, I'd love to hear his comments on them. I found this to be a very timely and interesting question. It actually occurred to me earlier today after the dust-up in another thread. Here's the thinking: 1) Since this group is far more connected to the highest levels of the company and that they keep a close eye on what goes on here they also have close ties to the celebrity endorsers. 2) Any company would be hard pressed to find a more loyal and involved group that represents their product than the folks in the OFC. 3) It's fairly universally agreed that their product does not currently enjoy a particularly mainstream presence as noted on several occasion here, either via broad distribution channels or general acceptance amongst the general playing population. 4) One would think that as the Kaman/Ovation/Adamas executives keep an eye on things down here that they would be more than a little indebted to this loyal and involved group if for no other reason then the large volume of work that is generated by this group in repairs and refurbs by all manner of instrument that are constantly being rotated in and out of the "Mothership". 5) We have the #1 Adamas dealer right here amongst us. That's a mighty feat to be sure and certainly very heartily supported by this list, perhaps even contributing a little to that success. 6)There really only a handful of mainstream celebrities that use the Ovation/Adamas product so one would think that they might be willing to take a few minutes every once in a while to drop in and chat with the simple folk that help to support their endorsements. So, the question remains, why don't they drop in for a little e-coffee once in a while. Let me be the first to extend the hand of hospitality to Glen, Adrian, Melissa, Al D, Nikki, Joey, Mick and any of the others on the remaining seven pages at the Ovation site who share the passion. Think how much fun it would be to hear their insights on the product, why they play what they play, how the unique sound inspires them, field a few questions from the common folk, etc. It shouldn't be too hard to put the two sides together with the firepower we have at the helm, no? It sure would spice the place up, eh? Imagine the buzz before, the follow up conversations after, and the anticipation of the next artist up to the old e-coffee table. Perhaps serving up a little Joe-F.C. A bold new marketing strategy. Are you feeling it? Is this a crazy idea?

Great to see someone at least pursuing the idea. Let's see what those in the know think. In the meantime, thanks for posting a thoughtful post.

If so, then hopefully they will evaluate your thoughtful post. I personally know of no one that bad mouths the Kaman products on this site. Show me one medium that promotes Ovation/Adamas more than the OvationFanClub! Just look at the recent n00bs that have been sucked into that 'black hole' and have purchased multi 'Os & As' in spite of our warning$! Great post... ![]()

"Real" is relative and I'd bet big money that there's a whole lotta regular folks right here amongst us with VERY real lives who take the time to share and contribute. There is one Ovation product manager and he is not allowed to post here(I may be wrong on that, there may be another reason why he doesn't post) He also has a million fires to put out each day, read a real job. There also are these new guys in town, call them Fender. They have a new priority list that everybody dances to. That's the way it is. Why celebrities don't post is up to them. I see where Joan Baez just put a nice post on the Guild site, In the Who owns a Martin thread, about page 6. Most probably prefer to stay in the weeds. That way they don't get bombarded with, "I love your newest cd, can I have a free copy....can you come play at my church for free....can I have your autograph on my cat....will you come to my BBQ.........I written a great new love song for your next cd.....

Early on there where probably enough train-wrecks for the word to get around that bulletin boards are not a good thing for celebrities to get involved with. As good as things are here there are times when things can get pretty weird. And currently you don't have to look very far.

Those that do get online, go for the Facebook or Twitter presence and it's usually for marketing, and many times it's an assistant actually doing the posting on their behalf. Those that have embraced Social Networking on their own are likely wondering why we aren't signed up as their friends...

With all due respect, if I was a popular recoding, touring, whatever famous person etc. reading and posting here (or anywhere else) would probably not be real high on my list of priorities.
