Well, Amie's roommates crashed it and totalled it, so it has been replaced with a real motorcyle. So that is the new backdrop for this year's family portrait. The backdrop The full portrait The first row L to R: Katie's 1778LX. Though she isn't officially a member of the family, she claims she is going to marry our son Rob, so that's close enough. Then Sara's 1778T-RF, then her Applause 3/4 size. Second row L to R: Sara's Preacher Deluxe, then Sara's Alvarez Yairi 12 string that I purchased new in 1977 and passed on to her. Next are my 3 acoustics, the Adamas 2080, the 2007BCS, and the 6778LX-VN. Back row L to R: Hamer Newport Pro and the Hohner G3T. Missing is Amie's 2078T which is in her apartment. For comparison, last year's portrait:

I was asked by a 'friend', "Have you wrecked it Yet?" He continued on to tell me it is not a matter of 'if' you will wreck, but 'When'! That excuse, "I didn't see him", is acceptable if you are driving a car and hit a bike. But if you are on a bike and you hit a car, the excuse "The jerk just pulled-out in front of me!" is not! (Needless to say, that is what happen to my Yamaha) Nice Guitar Collection ya' got there!

The Adamas has more harmonics and sounds a bit richer and deeper. But the '07 is darned close. So I'd say that the '07 sets the standard for the LX line of Ovations. The neck is a slightly C shape. I wouldn't call it thick or chunky, but it isn't slim. It is comfortable with very nice fret work. The extra care that the factory puts into building and setting up Collector's guitars is evident. The neck depth is comparable to the Adamas, but more C than the Adamas which has a very slight V to it. How do the 2007BCS, and the 6778LX-VN compare to each other? It came with the VIP which does what is advertised. However, I am not looking for a variety of different sounds, I just want to make my guitar sound as good as it can plugged in either live or recording. So, I bought an OpPro Studio from Al. That preamp is superb in the '07C. The VIP requires a dummy plug to work the tuner, or you can stick a finger in the XLR to fool it, but that leaves only one hand for tuning. The Studio does not require a dummy plug. Plugged in, the Adamas does outshine the '07C in the liveliness department. However, I have not done an A/B with identical strings. The '07C has Elixir Nanos on it, the Adamas has brand new Dean Markley phos bnz. The VIP adds a lot to the 2080, though again I am not likely to use different images to get different sounds, just to get the one best sound. So far I'd say that the VIP was the right choice for standard equipment in the 2080, though the OpPro Studio will get a workout soon. The 6778LX is an outstanding example of the mid bowl LX series. This particular guitar has the best neck ever. Period. The action is very easy and without buzz. I've measured it carefully every which way, and did my best to duplicate it on the '07C. The neck is a gentle V and slimmer than the '07C. The 6778LX is easier to play than my Hamer electric, no kidding. It has the OpPro, which I like better than the older Op30 in Sara's red flame. The main differences between the '07C and the 6778LX are the bowl and the neck profile. And the bear claw on the '07 vs the regular spruce on the 6778LX. The '07 has an ebony fretboard and bridge, while the 6778LX has rosewood. The '07C neck finish is gloss, the 6778LX is matte but has been polished to slightly glossy from being played.

Willa, Consider if you would the potential of doing a Calendar for the OFC only along the theme of that Women's Garden Club in England. I should have a Jumbo ready for a photo Op in a couple of months. All to benefit some charity of course. Nice pictures Fly! Some of those look awful familiar.
