But by looks alone, which one would you (should I) Keep? Call one the V or Chevron, and the other (I don't know) the straight grained one. I bought one of these just to get the primo 9158 case. And I still have more guitars than cases. So I figure that one of these is going. So, any Opinions/Observations/Beauty Tips?

The grain on these are just veneer for looks. (Please Correct Me If I'm Wrong) One of these days I gotta remember to buy one of those "Mirror-on-a-stick" thingies.

I know from experience that all Ovation necks are not created equal, so test them for sound (plugged, unplugged), playability and "heart" (does one "speak" to you more when you play it...or not?) Will the difference you'll get for the looks of the one be worth it over the long run if you don't enjoy playing the one you end up keeping as much? IF they are exactly the same, point for point, then sometimes it's just that intangible "something" that will be the deciding factor... --Karen

Some buyers would think of that as imperfections. Otherwise, I have no attachment to the new straight grain one. Even tho' the Vee looks like stick-on wood-paneling repair stuff. I have taken it outside and made a coupla bucks with it... So I guess that makes us 'Buddies'... :D So now I'm gonna see if I can sell it for what I paid for it, and still keep the case... ![]()

Like I have said, My impression of the V is that it looks like the walls of somebody's basement family room. Or that crap they use for walls in old aluminum mobile homes. But it sounds nice (for what it is) plus I put a bone saddle and a new Undersaddle Piezo in there... And I am hoping that the plywood won't crack if it gets chilly outside. Sounds good through the MicroCube. I figure that the second one that I got (straight grain) is stock, and relatively new. Therefore it is worth more on evilBay... To be honest... I bought the V for the RoadRunner Case that came with it... and it was relatively cheap. Then I bought the second one for a 9158 case with the padded handle and "Ovation" in the fur... So now I have almost enough cases.

Nice. Then I bought the second one for a 9158 case with the padded handle and "Ovation" in the fur.. Yes, I'm a USO snob, not a big fan of Celibacies. They have their place, but not in mine.

You will notice that my Celebrity's are listed at the bottom of the sig line with all the other imported crap. [Not to talk bad to Celebrity owner, cuz until recently all my "O's" were Celebrity's] The Trekker has a crappy preamp installed, and I used it for 'Busking' (where did that work come from?) But now I am using the CK cuz it looks prettier and not like it was attacked by a Dremel. But when the weather is nice, I take out the Sweet T, or the T-12, or the 07C, or another T. I got the green 1111 to play straight acoustic, but I am fighting against street noise. I prefer to play a USO outside, but summer will be over soon and Portland is not famous for it's Great Weather. I will be sad if the weather destroys a $200 Celebrity... But no where near as sad as if I cracked the 07C!

It's not like I'm planning on being competition for you. Heck, I could set up on the other side of the street and it would drive more business your way!
