I recently sold my martin d42, paid off some debt, and want to get a high end ovaton (new) I presently have the following ovations a balladeer 1111 reissue a mid depth balladeer (cedar top)electric a mid depth 12 string balladeer electric you can get a whole lot more value for an ovation at this time (NEW) although I have not posted much, I read all the threads, then GAS sets in.

Fantastic guitars for an almost give away price. Since I am a real Adamas fan vs the woodtop Ovations my 2nd choice would be the 2080. Just so you know that I practice what I preach I have two of the 1681 reissues (1 red 1 blue) and 2 of the 2080's (although mine were custom built long neck baritone 6 and 12 string).

Did't know I could still find a new one. These are the non cutaway deep bowl. Do they have a pickup in them or are they strictly acoustic. Sounds like you have a pretty good collection of the Adamas. One vote for the adamas. FYI, I ended up putting in an offer which was accepted over the weekend on ebay for the 2009 collector. On Monday, they cancelled my offer saying they were out of stock. This locked up my funds for 3 days (urgh). I called the store saying I wanted one (not mentioning price and they said they could get them). Never called me back once I told them what they had done. Anyway. just thought I would share.

But the wood on the '09C is so much prettier and sexier than the black top of the Adamas. People say the '09C sounds great. Since you already have several round hole wood topped Ovations, I'd say go for something different, but not because the '09C is deficient in any way. Al has all kinds of great deals available right now. Heck, get both the Adamas and the '09.

BUT ... I'd opt with the 09 Collectors. My Adamas guitars sound louder to me (or the player) because of the hole configuration, which also holds true to the Elites, but if you're standing in front of one, the round holes seem to project just as well. After playing the 09 however, I've found it have an incredible tonal quality and range, the setup is perfect, the appearance is fantastic. It has the Op Pro Studio and contour bowl. The final deciding factor for me was the limited run on them and the major price drop. I believe I can always pickup another Adamas (which I really do like also)but I have an idea people who get these 09s in their hands will be hanging on to them for a long time. If you already have a lot of round holes, you could always get the 09 and compare it with the others, then down the road you could part with one of those to finance an Adamas purchase. Also ... If you already made the decision once to push the button on an 09, you KNOW YOU WANT ONE. (: If you go for another 09, go through Al and you won't have the same problem (opinion number 7)

(My bona fides: I have three of them; my disclaimer: I've never played an '09 Collectors) 2080: TOTAL versatility, plays beautifully no matter the style of play or the volume, or plugged in or not. Feels great in the hands. Some LOVE the looks. I'm up in the air about that, but that's very secondary for me. For sound, tone, balance, dynamics? WONDERFUL! And, nearly perfectly non-neurotic. Stays in tune FOREVER! That is a good and bad thing. You can play for a long time and if you are not paying attention (as in you go into a slightly hypnotic state as I sometimes do), you can start to get ever so slightly out of tune and not realize it. Again, don't ignore the disclaimer, above.

I'll be pulling the trigger today. I do appreciate all the help. I could dump some more stuff and get one of each down the road. It sounds like I narrowed my choices down to some pretty good ones. I am also going to see what Al might have. Like the OFC Adamas in the picture too.

Spoke with Al. Good guy. Getting both sounds like an interesting option though. I love the feedback this forum provides (and love the non-feedback my ovations provide), bad pun but couldn't resist.

No, that one actually belonged to Fugot (Mike C) and as far as I know is the only regular 2080 12 string. Not sure who bought it but I think it was somebody here on the forum. Mine is a 2080D LONG NECK 12 string (with a matching 6 string mate) that I had custom made and it is a different beast all together. Been mine since day one and is currently on the "will not ever part with it" side of the room.
