Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Well, I'll be closing the shop early to go play at a wine and cheese fundraiser at the Mammoth Site. Here in Hot Springs we have the largest mammoth dig on the planet. Scientists from all over the world come here to study. To date there are 58 complete mammoth skeletons, not to mention all sorts of other assorted animals. It's such a cool place and it's an honor to be asked for the third year in a row to come and play. My stagefright doesn't kick in because it's only background music. I will have to play for a little over two hours straight, no break and not even any chatter between songs. The first year it worried me, but I had no problem filling the time so I don't worry any more. The only downside is that I have to close the shop early and GET DRESSED UP. I HATE getting dressed up! :mad: But it is such a great cause, so I guess I can do it once a year. Anyway, wish me luck. I'll be taking requests if there's anything you'd like to hear (about). :D |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Just got back, and I must say, I had a very "nice" time. They had a larger crowd than other years, about 150 or so. They also just got a grant and are going to add on to the building.
I took my Crate acoustic amp and for most of the evening I played the Adamas that Beal sent me. I also took the 1680 for the dropped D numbers. I got a lot of comments on the "beautiful guitars!" and there were a few musicians in the crowd who were REALLY impressed. One guy said he would be in on Monday to check out some guitars, so I'm hoping to get a sale out of this.
The only problem with this gig is watching all the people with wine from Prairie Berry Winery, all that fresh fruit, several different cheeses and crackers, and there I sat, guitar in hand. I finally went over and snagged a couple of grapes when it was over. Now I'm going home to get some real food and get out of these #*@^*@* uncomfortable clothes! |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Well, that's nice, but it has nothing to do with reality. You do realize, there are three types of people in the world, right? Those who have NO idea what reality is, those who have seen reality and find it so depressing that it makes their whole life sour, and those who have stared reality in the face and decide to be happy in spite of it. Those of us in the third catagory are the "nice" ones who go play guitar at benefits and nursing homes. Those in the second catagory like to sneer at us "nice" people, but I doubt anyone will ever play guitar for them. And then there is the first catagory - they don't know what is going on around them but they think it's all "nice"! :D |

Since I'm the only one who brought it up apparently all of your comments are aimed at me. Since you seem too thick to get it, the point was that there are those who treasure honesty and there are those who act nice, want everyone to think they are sweet nice people, while they stab people in the back and call them names. And you all prove the point. Honesty is a far greater virtue in people. So go ahead and proclaim how nice you are and what you think I am. Some folks in this world feel that bragging about their good deeds and lording them over others is unbecoming and an affront to the reasons we try to do good. You do not know me. If you did, you would know that I direct my sneers at hypocrites. |

Location: South of most, North of few | Bob, I may be way off here, but I believe those comments are aimed at Caravan Rooubishe for his rather moronic and vulgar comments on another thread that earned him a vacation. So, unless CR is another handle you go by, I wouldn't take offense. |

Location: Pennsylvania | Great for you, Alison! Except for having to play two hours straight with not even a break, having to watch everyone else eat and imbibe in the process, and having to get dressed up. Other than that, it sounds like a fantastic evening. ;)
