Great read, the man has the words.

Bobbo, even though I'm not one of the "old guard", I know how you feel (a different forum, a different time). But the OFC is still a great place. I'm glad to be a part of it.

I like this forum now, I propbably would have loved it back when.

Beautiful.

Either way it's something to think about on a dark winter's evening.

No, that's lactating. Same principle, though.

Well I think I more than anyone has been the major whipping boy for the OFC. when it is good I get praised bad I get the crap, If I make a popular decision people love me when I make an unpopular decision (more often then not) I get slammed.

I have been personally slandered all over the web, I have come short of restraining orders and going to court and I am currently contemplating a full legal assault against one individual who continues to slander me and my business as recently as a few weeks ago by impersonating me on a popular social website.

If anyone has a reason to quit and pull the plug it is me!!!!!

why don't I?

Well, as many have told me this website is way bigger than just me. It is about the friendships and community it has established. I have made lifelong friends on this board. People that I know and respect and know that I am always welcome in their home or their company and am treated as a long lost friend or brother. Hell, who else gets their face on a t shirt and gets it taken all over the WORLD to have pics taken!!!! that still makes me laugh!!!

Everything morphs and changes. Early on a very prominent member deleted all his pics and decided he no longer wanted to participate because it was no longer only about "ovation guitars". Well funny how this member still participates on occasion and uses this board to sell items that they have to other members.

Yes new websites were started and all failed, I have been called every name mostly bad in the book, and we still maintain after all these years.

As groucho said something like "I don't want to be a member of a club that accepts me". But aren't we all some sort of misfits here? mention Ovation on almost any other board and you get a bunch of grief. Mention it here and you get real answers often from the man that was there when it was happening or from someone that has a pile of information.

It is difficult keeping a happy medium between posts and members. I try to keep all the explosive stuff out. If you notice we don't delete posts we close them. Yes all our dirty laundry is out in the public for anyone to view.

My advice is enjoy this place. it is special, unlike any other that I have experience on the net and I visit many.

Al, I know that we've had our disagreements over the years. But I gotta tell you, one of the best times I had at Amelia was getting to sit down and chat with you over drinks on the patio. Great fun. I had the same pleasure with Miles a few years ago in CT.
You guys have got a tough job here, but it doesn't have to be a thankless one.

Thank you.

Bobbo, your post/blog/manuscript(lol)is wonderful! Sadly, nothing ever stays the same...but we can celebrate the past, enjoy the present, and look expectantly to the future. Even families and friends don't see eye to eye at times...but if the connection was real at the outset, it will prevail and overcome.

Al: Nuff Said!

Good Site, Good People. Some people get burned out and things change, that's life.

Great job by Al and Miles always has been and I still hope to one daty meet some of you. Oddly enough out of this whole group and the time I have been in here the only guy I have talked with in person is Kim Keller.

Hey Cliff.....good to see your still kickin and playin... the Pink Floyd list is beginning with the band I am working with. Doing some YES, Old Genesis, UK, King Crimson and now the Floyd. Opening is Blue Sky right into DOGS then there is still debate of what way to go from there. You've got to hear it once we get out.
