The "plausible deniability" defense...

Gibson said that it is “a chain of custody certified buyer who purchases wood from legal suppliers who are to follow all standards.”

yep... that's what we'll say if we ever get busted

I heard the cardboard used in the Estaban guitars was manufactured in illegal Chinese sweatshops, but no one's raiding THEM.

You would THINK that the FBI would have more important things to spend their time and efforts (and our tax dollars) on these days ... Like perhaps keeping us all safe from terrorism! For some reason I just don't feel more secure today, knowing that there's less illegally-imported rosewood in the country.

They will get a fine, and their prices will go up to cover it.

It was the Fish & Wildlife Feds... you know, the ones that sell fishing and hunting licenses.

Didn't I read somewhere that the rainforest was being bulldozed clear to make room for more profitable endeavors, and since it was illegal to sell the lumber, it was being burned ? So goodbye trees anyway ....

Maybe I'm wrong, can't remember the source.
