its that time of year again and i always ask the same thing but i enjoy hearing what the ofcer's are doing for the holiday.
mary & i will be making up a very low keyed turkey mashed potatoes and gravy with a veggie dinner and then we will be visiting with my mother who will be spending her 1st turkey day in a nursing home. it will be kinda strange but its all going to be good.i also have a four day weekend to look forward to.
absolutely no shopping for this one over that weekend , but visiting my refrigerator frequently.
have a great turkey day to all. :D GWB :D

Oh , I`ve heard about that , did n`t realize that it was now..

Over here folks are steamin` up fer X-mas , which is really big around here , one party after another , fer about a whole month , companies inviting staff out t` dinner , police makin` a bob or two catchin` drunk drivers , good time fer gig`s ,etc.

Portland for traditional turkey, cranberry stuff, pumpkin pie, etc., except we'll be staying at my brother's new house that he's been working on for years. Winery tour on Friday or Saturday.
I may have to walk down to the nearby McMinneman's (where we met up with gh1 and dvd a few years ago) for some excercise.
For some Ovation content, I'll be taking my daughter's 83 Collector to her, that she left in Portland the last time she was there, and picking up my Custom Balladeer, that has been on loan to other daughter's former boyfriend for a year or so.

Well so far, I plan on being a driver for the Equinox Thanksgiving Day dinner. It is an amazing sight -- thousands of people show up early Thanksgiving morning to deliver meals to the homebound. I've done it for years and cannot think of not doing this on Thanksgiving.

Around 4:00 p.m., my family will gather for dinner. By this time, it will be the second meal of the day for my brothers and their families. We'll have turkey with all the trimmings, plus a few pies. And I'll get a little guitar strumming in also!

Good wine in those parts Mark--wish I could get out that way for a taste (or ten).

I like your tradition Michelle--thanks for sharing.

We'll be driving to Denver at about noon to have dinner at the wife's uncle's house, then back home around 8:00 or so. Nothing too exciting here.

I hope you all have good weather and safe travel over the holiday (even in Denmark ;) )

I'll pick up my dad at his house, go to the nursing home and sign my mother out,and bring them back to my house. My mom wants my homemade pizza. Says she doesn't get any in the nursing home. I asked her "Are you sure, no turkey?", she said "Not when I can have your homemade pizza!". You gotta love mom. Of course I'll play her a song or two, she loves to humm harmonies to the tunes. Life is good !

The Parlor and I will be making the "the-Pennsylvnia-goes-on-forever-but-at-least-it's-not-Texas" run from here to Ohio on Tuesday to spend a week at my sister's; my first visit to her house for the holiday in many years.
(This makes it easier for my kids, too, as they both can feast with the in-laws "guilt-free." ;) )
I'm sure we'll have the obligatory turkey and such, and I'm hoping my sister will make her absolutely killer cinnamon-walnut coffee cake--now, that's something worth driving for!

On T-day... going to a campground next to Dutch Wonderland (Lancaster, PA) to have dinner with my wife's sister and her family. Afterwards, sitting around a fire chatting. I plan on bringing 2 O's with me this year. I hope it stays warm and dry!

Friday after... avoiding the crowds, I hope.

Saturday... another year older.

I'll be home cooking up the traditional turkey, two kinds of stuffings and the usual gravy arguments along with the rest of the fixings. Then I get to sit back and enjoy the Giants game while everyone else cleans up!

Well, to start off the biggest thing is having my 2 kids home from college for a week. That should be great fun. On turkey day we are off to my sis-in-laws house for a family gathering for my wifes side. She has 9 siblings, so counting spouses, children, spouses of children and children of children we have breached the 40 person mark. Chaos and fun. We have the same group at our house for Chrismas Eve (and we are already preparing)
Hopefully everyone has a safe and happy couple of days off work (unless you live in Michigan--you are most likely already off of work).

It's the year for the retired generation to visit. My dad will be here later this week on his cross country drive from NY. He's tracing the old Rt 66 and visiting friends along the way. Then next week my Mom and stepdad are visiting from their home in England. We'll have over MIL who lives nearby and her brother.

Plus, my 20 yr old daughter's boyfriend will be here.

It is likely to be a fun and interesting week.

Nothing here, or with any other members of the close friends and family here in FL.... Brevard County is dead and dying, unemployment is REALISTICALLY at about 20% or higher, and it's all any of us can do just to keep the lights on and the rent paid. We have hundreds of families here living in public parks, campgrounds, and wooded areas that have lost their homes, or been evicted from their apartments and rental homes which the owners were not paying the mortgages on.

Char and I are waiting on our Food Stamp determination.... but that won't be until after Thanksgiving. We might be joining Slydog and his friend Lori, but they're in the same boat, and just sold the 1778-T for fuel for the Truck and to pay the rent.

My Family up North is doing a little better, but mom lost her house and had to move up to Milwaukee, close to my sister Jen, Sister Val is doing ok in a stagnant town called Hamilton! OH, with NO INDUSTRY left... Brother Mike who used to be a Senior administrator for MCI is now unloading produce trucks for Kroger.....

so much for voting for change... we got it...
except it was just nickels, dimes, and pennies.

Glenn

I like your tradition Michelle--thanks for sharing.

You're welcome, Todd! I started doing it for a purely selfish reason -- I couldn't stand the nastiness of Black Friday and figured that doing some volunteer work on Thanksgiving would combat that.

I've gotten back more than I've given. The people who receive the food are generally really glad to have someone stop by and talk to them.
