i cant believe how a person can keep a voice going for 30 years or so and still sound like you did when you were young ( a 20 year old ) and just starting out in the yes group.i always had a horrible singing voice ( as a 20 year old ) and now it has reached an all time horrific sound ( as a 55 year old ) according to the wife and i have to agree with her on it
.check out jon anderson at 50 something.GWB

Yep... there is a guy who has still got it.
Unlike say... Burton Cummings and to some measurable extent, Roger Daltry.

Shirley Bassey sounds EXACTLY like she did in her youth - and she's 70-something. Amazing!

I'd say that Ann Wilson from Heart fits the bill as well.

I think Justin Hayward and John Lodge (Moody Blues) voices sound as good as they did 40 years ago. Plus a ton more.

Last I saw him was in the movie "Across the Universe". Movie makeup or not, he looked surprisingly good. It was fun seeing him in different characters and singing.

I think Robert Plant still sounds great and John Mellencamp, too.

I saw The Who on some cable show a few months ago...Isle of Wight or something. Poor Daltry had absolutely no range at all. It was embarrassing to listen to.

Joe Cocker lost his voice before he started.

Roger Played here in Nashville at the Ryman a few weeks ago. If it sold out it sold out Late. My guess is most of the screamers will lose it faster. ie James Taylor sounds exactly the same but JT hasnt strained a note in 40 yrs. But I do get the benefit of seeing some old timers at the Ryaman. The acoustic are the world finest and everybody brings their A game.. nobody wants to stink up the Ryman.

Saw Boz Scaggs a few Month ago, He still's got it. Saw Bonnnie Raitt a few weeks ago she still got it.

My vote for the Lost it award is Elton John and he lost it YEARS AGO. But still like to listen to the old stuff.

A lot of singers are actually better sings from age 40-60. It's when you get past 65 and move towards and beyond 70 that changes really start happening...
