So, I discover the OFC on line looking for information about Adamas models and players. Lurked for awhile and really enjoyed many posts, specially the ones by my dear friend Cliff. :) And when I joined, he was the first one to welcome me with open arms, thanks buddy! And you? ;)

Joined, posted a pic or two and got a LOT of great info on what I had. Soon I realized this would be a great group to hang around with even if it weren't for our common interest. Just wish I could attend more of the gatherings that have taken place.

I followed it, joined right away, lurked for a couple of weeks and started posting. I still highly recommend to newbies that they spend several days going thru the archives. Not only will they learn something, they'll have a great time as well!

Don't really remember how I found the site but probably Googled looking for information on my 1st Ovation that I bought in '76. This site has given me lots of good times and cost me a LOT of money!

I'm sure that it had to do with Google and a renewed interest in guitars. It wasn't until I overpaid for a Celeb that I came back and was lured into major OGAS. I may have paid too much for the 057 but I've more than gotten my money's worth being here, other than spending even more avoiding the 12-step anti-OGAS program! ![]()

I was trying to find out info on getting the neck on my Ultra fixed (the Urelite had bowed) and a web hit sent me here. I got good advice, but what hooked me was when Moody started talking about sports cars in the driveway. Sorta been around ever since. I was doubly hooked when I went to the first factory tour and met people for real ... and discovered that my beloved Hamer was also part of the family.

Joined: October 2006 Posts: 5576 Location: big island | i stumbled upon jerome's ovation tribute site in september of '06. i was seeking info on non-wood guitar options and typed "adamas" into my browser's search engine. then i clicked on jerome's link to the OFC. perused for a week or two before joining. had never played an ovation branded guitar in my 38 years of strumming. i've got 5 o's in the house now but have owned 8 since joining the ofc. (picked up a couple awesome takamines, by association, along the way too!) i spend too much time here but it is often a nice respite from the rigors of daily child rearing.

Joined: October 2007 Posts: 2711 Location: Vernon CT | I allway's like Ovations plugged in, but not really acoustically. So, when I finally bought one, my 1778 LX in 8/07 I actually went looking for a "forum site " for otheres that enjoyed Ovations. It took me a couple of months before I joined but finally did in 10/07 ( i think). I now own 4 "O"'s and am very happy I found OFC. I've learned a lot and enjoy the "family fights" :)

Joined: June 2003 Posts: 1792 Location: Rego Park, NY, | I purchased my Adamas from an Ebay in June 2003. Like many others I found this website while looking for info. I registered asap. I was a lurker for a long time. I also realized that my timing was lousy because I just missed the OFC 2003 tour by about a month. I had to wait till 2004 for the tour and haven't missed any yet.

Believe it or not, it was that blue MOB that sparked the GAS attack. Found the OFC in a Google search. There was no lurking... no hesitation. I jumped right in. Oh what a ride it has been!!

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 14842 Location: NJ | March 20, 2002 Whilst going thru the trials & tribs of my divorce, I had JUST gotten my Adamas back from my ex-wife. I had been researching it’s potential “value” for insurance purposes (and “possible” sale). MandolinBros. had dimed-me-off, completely (asswipes). The Ovation webpage was useless, but this WAS during that Brief, Shining Moment when they had a “Link” t’Here. Since I first SAW the guitar in ’76, I was led to believe that it was prototype #20 out of 28 guitars. I posted “My Story”, naively listed my daytime number, and asked for any info anyone might have . . . 20 MINUTES LATER, my office phone rings, and the guy on the other end says “. . Cliff?? . . . Bill Kaman, here . . . “ Thinking it was some Internet F@ckTard having a piss with me, I think I told him to “F@ckOff” & hung up. When he called me right back, & started explaining the guitar, I nearly shat myself. We chatted/joked for a good half-hour. I met Al, Miles, and HerrKeller at a Jersey GuitarShow a couple weeks later . . . GoodTimes Ever Since.

I believe it was in early 2006. I was looking for the Ovation factory site, googled Ovation and arrived here. It hasn't been the same since.

It was a Wendsday so we can only figure it was a slow day a work. My guess is that you stumbled across the OFC while looking for signage for your music room.

Many O's and A's have come and gone since, many miles have been put on the car going to gatherings, but most importantly, MANY new friendships have been started.

Joined: November 2006 Posts: 3969 | Like Cliff, after my divorce and prying my 2 old guitars from my ex, I decided to get back into playing after nearly 20 years of on-again-off-again noodling. Unlike Cliff, all I had was an old Matrix I'd picked up along the way. After a little over a year of trying to improve my playing, and getting back on my feet financially (damn lawyers - sorry Mark and Mitch), I decided to upgrade my guitar. I Googled to get info about the Matrix & wound up here in 2006, where I developed major GAS pains. Lurked for awhile and was welcomed by Jason who answered a technical question I posted. Been hanging around since. Met some great people & have had some memorable times as a result.
