I'm looking for advice here guys. I find myself in a position where something needs to go. The problem is, I don't want to sell anything and am having real issues deciding which to sell. So here's my question, how would you decide to let one of yours go. And before you answer, none of mine really get played more than the others as I like all of'em. I'm thinking of using the "easiest to eventually replace rule", but they are all pretty tough to find, especially in the condition mine are in.

So I'm just feeling around for some tentative input.

And just for fair warning, I'll probably ask a fair price (Read that "Not an eBay price."), as the ones in contention are all more collectible than the average bear. ;)

Any thoughts? :)

That's a tough one Patch. Maybe put them all up and see what sells first, then stop when you get to where you want to be.

1)E-knee-Meannie...
2)let the wife choose
3)sell the one most likely to sell (does that make sense?)
4)Put all of them up and see what sells first.
5)Give up and just keep em all.

Sell the Bubinga Elite and the Book Elite. I hate bubinga and the Book is a copy of the 87 C.

Ok, I've done my part....

Pick the three that are easier to replace, put those up for sale at more than you need for them and when one sells pull the others off the market.

Then have a good cry and move on. :(

These are the two options that cross my mind the most. Why is it that we put this much angst into guitars anyway?

Buy the new one first and then something else won't get played. Which ever one that is, sell it. They're just guitars, not life and death.

Get them all out of the cases, play each one in turn for 3 minutes. Sell the least enjoyable one.

I've never regretted selling a guitar and I'm even seriously considering selling my Parkey Fly Bronze Fly and even the FUD (once it comes back from the Mothership) if it doesn't offer anything that my current herd doesn't offer. I don't like similar guitars if you know what I mean.

Hope that helps.

If one has to go I am in the school of Moody and Dave.

The 87C and Book Elite are essentially the same guitar so decide which one you like the best and let the other one go......

or like Dave said get the new one and see which of the older ones falls into disfavor.

Maybe I should have said any regrets I've had have gone.

I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition!

I'm sure I would find some reason to regret parting with a guitar, so I have yet sell one. Even if I don't play them all, I still enjoy looking at them, not just one, but the combination of them all. That and the lights.

Some good suggestions, including the reference to that resort island. I am in de-acquisition mode right now and have decided to keep the "best" guitar I have, though it is not an easy choice at all. I have gone back and forth many times on which one to keep and which ones to let go.

First, do you consider any of them somewhat redundant in function or collectible reasoning?

Second, the used market really sucks for sellers right now. So you might want to sell the one that is the lesser financial loss, which means it will be easier to re-acquire later on.

Third, is there something on the wish list similar to one you have now, so you could sell that one and then someday in the future get the wish list guitar.

Finally, is there one that has the most profit in it right now?

What the hell did you do, perform a "search" on the word "regret" ???

Well done, by the way.
