OK gang, the time is approaching fast and I could use a head count. The gathering is taking place June 25th-27th. The songwriting workshop with Craig Carothers will be happening on Saturday here at the shop, with concert to follow at the Wild Burro book store down the street. Cost of the workshop is $150 and includes a concert ticket. If you don't attend the workshop but want to see the concert, tickets are, I believe, ten dollars. (I'll get back to you on that when I hear from Laurel.) I have floor space available at the shop if you want to sleep here, but if you need a motel and I can get a head count, I can still arrange a group rate at a local motel. Let me know if you're in, and tell me what you'll be bringing for guitars. I have a couple of Adamas', the 2077LX, my old 1617 Legend, a 1767 Legend, Iffy's beautiful Parlor, plus all kinds of other brands. Several of my regulars have O's too. Oh yeah, and if you can spare some extra time, come early and stay late. The Black Hills offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. I'll give y'all a guided tour.

Driving up on the 24th, two for the concert if possible but sans the Saturday songwriting workshop during the day (we'll be motorcycle touring). Thanks for doing this, Alison, and keep us posted if you work up a discount at a local motel.

Two. Sara and I should be there all three days. We'll want a motel room if the rate is reasonable.

Alison. I think I would like to attend, but need to check with Fiancee to see if she would also be able to attend. If so, we would be bringing our own little apartment (little bright yellow camper), so would only need to know if camping is available locally. I'll try to let you know positively one way or the other. Sounds like a fun time!

Plenty of camping in the area. Last summer some friends from Connecticut came to visit for three weeks and they stayed at a place right up the road from my shop. When they left, they worked their way to Florida, and they say the campground here was the nicest they have stayed at. (Beautiful views of Battle Mountain) There's another one I like that is in the trees on Fall River (the river that is 87 degrees, even in the winter). Hope you can make it!

The car is rented, so the "Intrepid Travelling Sisters" ;) will be leaving Ohio on Tuesday morning and arriving at your place on Thursday. I will be bringing a few guitars--I just don't know exactly which of the thundering herd is going to get picked. One for sure, and as for the others, we shall see.
It seems like it's taken forever for the dates to get here; and now the time seems so short.
This is going to be so much fun! :D

Alison: a) will they let my son into the concert - he's 11...or is it 21 and over only (he does play guitar b) any informal jam sessions on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday at the shop? c) what is the name of the two campgrounds you'd recommend d) if you want I can bring #43 for people to play...I also have a couple other options for guitars
Thanks...looking forward to participating in some manner or fashion - we met once - years ago

Alison. Checked with the "boss" and we will be attending. Looking forward to my first gathering with other OFC'ers. Could you provide name & number of the campgrounds available? I need to make sure I have a spot. We will be arriving on the 24th (probably). Looking forward to meeting you and others. Please PM with the info for the campgrounds.

Elgin, yes, by all means, your son can come! The concert is at a book store. Informal jam at the shop on Friday and any other day you can be here except Saturday because the workshop will be going on here. The workshop is filling up fast, but I also need a definite count on the concert because Craig always sells out. The place only holds about 70 people. I need to reserve tickets.

Alan, PM on the way.

OK, never mind the PM. I imagine others will be interested in camping too. I think the first choice would be kemosabay.com They have good prices and a great view. The other one that has great scenery is Allen Ranch. Just type it into google and it'll be the first site that pops up. They are more expensive and not as close to the shop, but then again, Hot Springs is a small town so EVERYTHING is close.

Thanks Alison. I'll check them out. Also, I forgot to tell you, put me down for two tickets for the concert. Don't believe we will be interested in the workshop. See you all in June.

Alison,
I'm still planning to attend with Lia.
One for the workshop and 2 for the concert.

I understand that whole area is above an underground "super volcano" that could go at any time and is actually past due. I saw it on TLC. Kinda creepy.

Nah, the supervolcano is actually at Yellowstone, and when it blows, it'll wipe out the entire midsection of the US. We here in South Dakota will be the lucky ones who die instantly. The folks in places like Indiana are the ones who will suffer the flames and choking ash before they die. ;)

Well, now that I see the futility of it all, forget trying to learn this Tommy Emmanuel stuff. I'm back to 3 chord songs! Yeeeeehawww! (Oh, and Oliver tunes)

After being in Idaho when St. Helen burped, I'll take the flash pan vs. choke & croak! Although the Aurora Borealis show would be to die for as seen from Florida...

Regardless, no change in our plan to head out yonder in June...

Yeah, despite the so-called "supervolcano threat", it sure looks beautiful up there. That's one of the few parts of the US I haven't been to. Some day.....
