It came to my office as I was having a bunch of computer-relocation work being done. I was in a hurry to take it to another room to tune her up using an in-line tuner, so I quickly snatched it out of the case, hurried to the next room, and while rounding the corner I hit the headstock on the corner of a metal filing cabinet. Well ... after sobbing for a while, I gazed at the nick in the finish, which had crazed through, and decided to see what I could do with it. I took it home and carefully used a scalpel tip to dig the cracked/loosened finish out and made a clean hole. Using Birchwood Casey Gunstock Tung Oil and a Q-tip, I dabbed a small amount of the finish into the hole and let it dry. Once dry I buffed it with super-fine steel wool and cleaned it off. I repeated the process daily over the weekend, and finished it with gun stock rubbing compound. Now it is barely visible.(yay)Well here she is. I promised Webster I would send him pics right away (since his 1537 is also in for the same work - Top Refinish), but it didn't make sense to post it twice. Anyway ... Here it is. It also has updated electronics, new bowl paint, and I just put a set of Templeton's amber tuner buttons on it ... ![]()

Perhaps that is due to the additional top sanding and a thinner finish than the old Varnish. It seems to be much louder than before. The setup and fretboard work make it play verrrry easily with a medium-low action. A big thanks to the guys at the factory! Well off to play her again! ...

I have a few sets of Amber in full-size and mini left. Also have tortoiseshell, grained ivoroid, koa, walnut and real mother of pearl. Ebony and Rosewood in mini and fullsize will be back in stock soon.
