I don't think it's politically correct to call him a "little brown man". That is a big brown box and case, though. Is there a big brown guitar inside?

edit: you beat me to it, I see it's a big brown bass! Nice.

Now another man, not as brown and not as small, but VERY SMART indeed, decided to look at my signature line and must have noticed that there are no Hamer or Adamas guitars in it, so he included some tempting pamphlets.

Thanks Al, like I need anymore help!

OK, I'll stop with the little brown man, but his part in this story is complete anyway.

When Al described the guitar to me he said it looks like it's in unplayed condition. That was a VERY accurate description. There is not one single nick or blemish ANYWHERE on this 25+ year old instrument. It looks to be in better condition than most new guitars that you'd find hanging in a music store. I'm impressed.

You can be assured that when I am in the market for a Hamer or Adamas (safe bet that'll happen), Al will be the first one I call.

Thank you Al. Like I said on the phone, I've wanted one of these since that day I saw it hanging next to the UKII I bought in '83. This is one happy customer!

Now for pics...

I have No experience with Bass Guitars, but WoW!
It's got little marking for bridge adjustment, and an EQ.
Now my buddy (long time ago) Bren had a Fender Bass, but it didn't have all that stuff.
Besides the little technical gee-gaws, That I a down-right Purdy piece of wood!

Well I was playing for a few but my 16yo asked to try it....

He's still on there. It was fun, I taught him a cool little bass line to a song I wrote, and I did guitar over it (PF-22 of course!).

He's still playing with it now.

Vic, yeah it's active with 2 9v batteries

And Beal, NO WAY MAN! ;)

Ok, bye again for a while

Yeah that Al's a crazy one.

I can't seem to pry it out of my kid's hands. He just said "Maybe I should be a base player"

I said, "Sure, I'll go get you a Squire P-Bass, now let me have that back!"

Thanks again Al. I won't tell anyone what you let it go for. ;)

Yeah, I DO remember that bass being quite a bit heavier than my J-Bass. I would thing that a good padded strap would be a must.

I bought one of those wide Levy's with the nylon on the outside, and a s-t-r-e-t-c-h-y "gel" inside, so the strap takes some of the weight off your shoulder . . .

That's the strap I had on the doubleneck in Amelia.

If the Hamer brochures don't grab your attention, the factory tour will, and once you inspect and play one up close, there will be no looking back.

I enjoy playing all of my guitars, but I REALLY enjoy playing my basses. I'd not seen an Ovation bass before, and this looks like one you just HAVE to pick up and play. Good luck.
