I had hit an ol' 'Discontinued Models' tab and then *poof*. Talk 'bout panic... All is well now... phew... NOTE: Don't forget to sign up for the new E-Newsletter!

No section on collectors and the archived section sucked, covering mostly Celebs (and the pics they had of other guitars were terrible). But a lot of the site was very good. Easy to navigate. Easy to read. But hopefully a work in progress.....

Thanks to Dave finding a listing on eBay, I was able to pick one up for cheap and then modified it to fit my 2080D longneck slothead 12 string! I had held off getting a hardshell cause the only ones that actually fit were custom made and in the $400+ price range.

Now THAT'S what I call a website, and I've been designing sites for nearly 20 years and I work with one of the best designers in the industry. HOME Eff'n RUN Ovation !!!!! Oh sure.. this model is missing, or they need to tweak this or that... but the MESSAGE is clear. FINALLY pages like this and this are OUT FRONT, NOT HIDDEN with CLEAR and CONCISE info. Think of all the times the answers were "Yes, they are made in CT, or the USA," "YES they are handcrafted," "Yes, they are round for a reason" "Yes, they've been doing it that way since the 60's" "Yes they were the first"... and many more are answered right up front. FINALLY !!!! One rule I have for designing and evaluating websites is my 15 second rule. I should be able to know everything I need to know about what the company or service the site is about within the first 15 seconds. Not in detail, but the major stuff. Who, what, where, when, why, how etc.. Cudos to the designers for knocking it out of the park. I made the above assessment off of those first 15 seconds. I'm gonna head back to go exploring..... :)

So far I've only found one question that isn't readily answered and that's "What's the difference between the Celebrity, Adamas and Applause lines besides price. Now I know (based on posts above) that some folks wish there was more info on stuff they don't make any more. Well, maybe it's coming, maybe it isn't. There are certainly some tweaks to make such as noting that while the Event in New Haven is a little over 2000 miles away, the upcoming event in Wisconsin is over 7000 miles away (oops), but seriously... for the average Joe looking up the Ovation Guitars at the company site for the first time... maybe interested in a model they saw in a store, or an artist they saw IN 2010 !!!!... nicely done. For the rest... well.. hey.. That's what the Ovation FanClub&trade is for. :)

If they want assistance, I'll help. :D Some of the photos are wrong on the OP-24 and the OP-24+C but they might fix that. And it will take me a while to figure-out the new Archive layout.

The more I look, the more I like. Again, some typos and such, but that's the easy part. The investment in this site really speaks volumes on Fender's commitment to the brand. At least for now..

As a result (to point out one way that doesn't work), the OpPro Studio pre-amp is down at the bottom of page 3 on the Electronics section, while the Op24 is on page 1. They need to come up with a sorting mechanism that defaults to "Best/most important first". Same thing happens with guitars, where you don't get to the good stuff (the premium, USA made models) until page 4...(Adamas models excepted...they come up first). In both cases, some better drop-downs with sorting options would be a quick fix. They might also consider adding a very brief (40 to 60 character) description of the guitars. On page 5, they have four Folklore models side by side. They all look virtually identical visually. They all have identical MSRP values. The only way to learn how one differs from the other is to click through individually to see the specs/descriptions. A short description would help. But as you have said, these are nits that can be easily addressed. And they in no way detract from the fact that this new site is orders of magnitude better than the previous version.

Unfortunately, when genuinely looking for an Ovation, I don't want to be told to look for a 'guitar that doesn't suck'! Other than that, yes, a much nicer more contemporary feel. I noticed some discrepancies with the photos of the C779LX, which were mainly of a Legend rather than a CL. Last thing - it all seems much, much slooooower now. :(
