Out with the old, in with the new. Not that anyone would really care, but a few folks have asked what's the master plan (or am I freaking nuts). No master plan, don't know if it's the beginning or the end, just out with the was, in with the is. After all, they're only "things". The nice thing is that I actually haven't spent any money, all were purchased with selling off others. I've posted a few of this pics before, but thought I would capture my "year to date" turn over ... First up was a new Collings CJ. I've been a huge CJ fan and the opportunity to grab this one was too good to pass up. Had to sell of my trusty CJ Sunburst, but this one is a CJ Adirondack and Madagascar with all the trimmings. Beautiful flourish inlays and more tortoise that the Galapagos Islands. I've owned a few and played plenty of CJ's and can tell you this one is in the top tier. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Takamine worked on this design for about 2 years and finally got it RIGHT. This is the TF740FS and it's an absolute dream. 1-7/8 nice wide neck, slotted headstock, 12 fret, deep body, Cooltube pre-amp. Gloss finish everywhere with beautiful tortie trim all around. Nothing fancy, very understated, but it sounds and plays like a dream. You would be surprised by the low price for this one. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Guild has always been known for great 12-strings and this is the cream of the crop. I sold off every Ovation and Adamas 12-string in favor of this one. Not saying it's better than a round back ... just saying ... If you every get a chance to see how these are built you'll be super impressed. It plays like a dream and has a voice that'll kill you. Spruce top with Maple B/S and all the fine appointments you'd expect. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had been on the scout for a small body Collings for some time and had burned up many pages of note pad with various drawings and pricings of different configurations. Then THIS shows up and it's just EVERYTHING I ever dreamed of in one package. 00 size with Adirondack top in autumn burst with an incredible flamed koa back and sides. 12 fret wide neck of course, and slotted headstock with torch inlay. 42 level abalone trim that is out of this world. Sorry to boast, but I can't imagine a prettier guitar. And without question it freaking plays and sings like an angel. Stupidly expensive, of course but I just fell in love with it and could NOT say no. ![]() ![]() ![]()

What they were talking about was a very limited edition (only 10 in the US) Orchestra sized model F30 GSR. Just a wonderful guitar from tip to tail. Bearclaw spruce top, nice straight grained rosewood B/S, wonderful trimmings of grained ivoroid and a top notch fit and finish. I HAD to have one of these, only problem was how am I going to score 1 of only 10. I started working on it the day I got home and thanks to the help of a few friends was able to get #1 on the waiting list of a dealer in Brooklyn. He called me when it came in and said "You're lucky I already sold this to you, otherwise it would NOT be for sale". It's been #1 fiddle since I got it. SERIOUSLY nice guitar and I am SO happy to see the folks in New Hartford able to crank out something like this. Not nearly as expensive as you would think of you played it. ![]() ![]() ![]()

If I had to make an uneducated guess I would say the EF75 was darker but the F30 was sweeter. I really really REALLY wanted one of the F30's but the Borges put such a large hole in the guitar fund there was just no way to buy it even if I had justified it. Most of the gits are goin in the cases tomorrow for a short spell while I move all the equipment to the new studio area. Gonna probably be a week or so before I can mount the wood strips for the hangers to go on. I did move the cajon and some of Serge's special reserve down already. Priorities are in their correct order, sir!
