Harry, one of the great singer/songwriters (and a very good player too) was on his way to do a benefit concert when he died:

YT: Six String Orchestra

YT: Cat\'s In the Cradle

Yep, he was only 38 when he died. What he accomplished by that time was amazing.

If I lived 5 life times the time I spent at 8 of his concerts could not be matched.

Anyone who is a fan of Harry (and frankly even those who aren't) should find a copy of "Looking ... seeing" Poems and song lyrics (Paperback) by Harry Chapin

There are several copies on Amazon.com.

Harry signed my copy for me in Pensacola Florida in 1978.

I was only two years back then, but still I envy you. Harry was one of a kind.

That is so cool! I've heard that he was a genuinely nice guy. I know that he started some and supported some charities.

Cat's in the Cradle has SOOOOO much meaning to me
and brings up more emotions the older my son gets (16 now). Harry will be missed, but always a part of my life because of that song.

With all due respect to Harry Chapin, didn't he die like 29 years ago? OK, I can see maybe a little reminder note on the 10th or 25th anniversary but if you check you'll see that EVERY day is the death anniversary of somebody famous.

Don't mean to tinkle on the twinkies but all this RIP stuff is getting in the way of the posted links to old youtube videos.

tinkle on the twinkies?

OK, that's a keeper

or is it from an unreleased Harry Chapin song, or Mary Chapin Carpenter, or Karen Carpenter or Coy the Carp?

Okay Here is ammunition for your next RIP thread. I chose to link the 16th cuz Harry is there.

Today (7/17/10)
Billie Holiday OD'd in 1959.
John Coltrane in 1967.
Also, Mickey Spillane died in 2006
and Walter Cronkite died Last Year.

Actually this thread provides links to ol' YT vids that some of our newer/younger members may not have had the pleasure to view... especially since Ovations are highlighted and some may not even know of the renown HC.

Harry, I miss your talent and passion, and enjoy what you left behind.
