They are supposed to bring it over tomorrow for me to look at but I wanted to be clued in before I looked at it. The volume/tone knobs don't look like the ones I normally think of but Gibson has so many freakin "special" models, who knows???

The knobs look identical to the ones on mine. It is missing the pickguard it once had. Notice the screw hole next to the 22nd fret. The saddles for the b and high e strings look a little funny and it probably needs a setup and intonation. Changing strings is always a pain since the bridge and tailpiece fall off without the strings to hold them in place and the bridge height adjustment screws are easily disturbed, but some people change strings one at a time so that would eliminate that. A little lock-tite on the height adjustment screws solved the inadvertant adjustment problem for me. I like to set my action a little on the high side for occasional slide, so my saddles sit farther back in the bridge when intonated correctly. And yeah, LP's are heavy, but I think that adds to the sustain that they are famous for. But after an hour or so, they get pretty heavy on the shoulder. I had to have one since I love the Allman Brothers so much, and mine does deliver that tone. But other guitars can as well and LP's are mostly overpriced for what they are. If it's a good deal, go for it, but don't buy it if its had a neck break repair.

Totally worn to hell and somebody had autographed it in Sharpie right on the white body. But it played and sounded just fantastic. $400. I cleaned off the signature and had the guitar set up properly. The tech said it seemed "sorta old". Upon further research we found out that it is an original 1962 model. I've been offered over 5x what I paid for it. ![]()

Now, if that Tele had a rosewood neck and a tortoise PG, wow! Add some cowpie delay in your chain and you'll have some great rockabilly tone.

Most fake Custom LPs I've seen have a rosewood fingerboard. I see 'em all the time at pawn shops.

Probably a reasonable price to flip. Personally I wouldn't want to own anything Gibson has put out within the last 40-odd years. At last night's gig the guy who owned the venue had a new Gibson self-tuning "Robot" Les Paul. I was gracious enough to feign excitement while he raved about it. What a horribly expensive piece of over-engineered unnecessary crap it was.
