Hi,

I am a *very* happy owner of a Elite Special S868 and soon to be picking up my 6778 LX and was just wondering why people seem to be so crazed about the Elite T, (1868 or 2078 or otherwise).

Would you say it would produce a nicer (warmer more woody sound) to either of the above?

Thanks...

I think there's something magical about the sound produced by multi-soundhole Ovations with bass-side-only holes. I have an Adamas 1581 that produces that sound.

I think the thing about the T is that it gives you that sound in such an inexpensive package. If you're familiar with the Law of Diminishing Returns, it's amazing that,in this case, it happens at around $650.

Righto, ta.

Could I not just plug up my treble holes on me Elite Special or Elite to get the same tone? Or is there a different bracing thang going on inside too?

The bracing is the same. I had a Std Elite with a mid-depth bowl And I have a set of Airlocks. When I used them it didn't produce the same bassy sound that the T does.

It certainly seems to have 'stealth' attributes, I reckon the wife might not even notice it :-)

I wonder if it's different enough to justify a purchase...

It's not just the soundholes, the other thing that influences the tone of the T's is that the textured bowl-paint finish is vey thin and light compared to a regular finish.

I have a regular 1778T, and one with the Flame Top.
The Flame top has different paint, an the clear finish over that.
It definitely sounds different.
Not to hurt the Burning T's feelings... But the straight black sounds better.

On one of the tours I asked Darren, design engineer at the Mothership, about the EliteT.
He said the guitar turned out far better than he had hoped but he was not exactly sure why.
Dweezil... if you did not know, the purpose of the EliteT was to build a USA made, solid top guitar for the lowest possible price.

It also has a great neck, more like an electric.
Mine has a nice flame figure to it.

I was at GC at lunch today, and they had one Elite T, for $879. I asked the guy if they planned to come down like everyone else. He had no clue.

Also they had one S771 Cedar, for $699. I think I did well not to have bought my Ovations there.

Time to admit my Stupidity... I paid $660 for one, and a gigbag.
(I paid less for the Flame T... Heck, I paid less for the 2058T!)
But it is a Great sounding guitar! :D
And I really like the OP-30.

This is what inspired me to participate in the "EliteT April Black Sale."

I'm tracking a potential 1778T project but they won't ship to Australia. If they allow me to bid, and I win, could someone offer it some accomodation for a few months until my cuzzin returns from the States?

Thought I'd better get first dibs this time, before Woody wakes up and AJ gets back from the pub.

Would the warranty apply if this was purchaced as new? If so send it back to the mothership and pick it up/have it delivered locally to the baby sitter of your choosing when done.

I could probably drive it to the factory while visiting my sister in law. She is in West Hartford not to far from the mothership.
