Iffy is a great guy and has helped me in so many ways. Come tuesday it should be here. I'll post some pic's when I get it. Now I will have a UKll, Preacher and a Viper. I should be able to get any sound needed for my music from these three guitars. :) :) :) :)

I have a Viper III in ash and at 9 pounds 13 ounces, it is the heaviest guitar I own, even more than the Les Paul which is 3-1/2 ounces less. Oink-oink.

My bother lives in Colorado Springs, Next time I heading that way I have to get in touch with you. And since i was a law enforcement officer for so many years you should of called me to get in the SUV...BDR works almost all the time. What is different between a Viper lll and a Viper, I'm not too hip on all the types yet.

Just a thought  Thanks Professor, even with the 3rd pick up, why is it so heavy compared to the others. Is is special wood or what?

Probably the sum of a lot of things like dense ash body, older electronics, a long two-octave neck, lack of body contour cutouts, maybe a big stonkin' truss rod, etc. You'll just have to come by and check it out for yourself. Thanks Professor, even with the 3rd pick up, why is it so heavy compared to the others. Joined: April 2010 Posts: 1227 Location: Connersville, Indiana | It arrived today!!! Wow what a guitar. The weight did not seem to bother me because it is so well balanced. It is a beautiful natural light wood grain. It has the original knobs but who ever Iffy got if from changed the knobs for some reason, I put the originals back on. The way it plays. These have got to be the hottest pickups on any of my guitars. It plays like silk. On a clean channel, neck pup it's almost Santana like smooth, on the bridge it bites. Then on the dirty channels it just smokes. I get harmonic picks easy. Couldn't take photos outside, raining (theres a first for this summer) but I will. In some ways it is almost like having a cross between a Les Paul and a Strat. This is one great guitar. Thank you so very much Iffy  :) :p :D

Excellent group photo, too… looks like Oscar photo sniped you, though… ;) …I've been an acoustic O guy since the seventies, but I've never tried any of the electrics, let alone owned one. They're all very interesting, but your first impressions of the Viper are downright g.a.s. inducing… ;) Sounds like a Viper would be a great alternative to a Tele? Hmmm, I don't have a Tele, I thought I wanted a Tele, but maybe I don't really need a Tele after all… …hmmm… ;)

I had a tele, liked it but this is so much more versatile. With out changing pickups like I was going to do on my tele, I can go from smooth to bluesy, to down right rocking. It is so well balanced on my shoulder, and since my chest is mess up that's important.
